Student Work

The Gummy Story By: Hassan Dagher (Student Revising and Editing)

The day I went to the gummy shop

I woke up at 7:30, I was eating  my breakfast and while am watching TV, I heard  a commercial saying.

“There is a new gummy shop opening in the downtown”. I thought I can go and check it out after school ,I asked my mom and said

“sure, why not”. At 3:35,   school ended, and my mom picked me up  we drove to the downtown. After 25 minutes we arrived at the gummy bear shop. Once we stepped in , We were overwhelmed with the smell of gummy , and the shape was so  good!!”

 What should I buy??

The worker was named Dave Berry. He said, “You are my first customer”, “Now tell me what do you want to buy?” The place was filled with gummies, in fact it had so much gummies I felt like I was going to faint. They had gummies big and small.

Then I asked him, “How much is a pound?”

He said, “$1.50. But why would you want to settle for a pound when you can have a 5 pound gummy snake for $39.99?”

“Why to miss up the moment,” I said in my mind.

I got the gummy snake!!!

Well I was just about to leave but Dave said

“wait, because you are my first customer, I will give it to you for free!!”

“Free?” I said, “well thank you” “any time” said Dave. Then I went on my bike good thing I got a basket. When I moved my feet the back was so heavy!! It was so heavy I felt like I needed therapy!!

Gummy time!!

Finally, I arrived home it was 5:23? “Man that thing was heavy! My mom said.

“Hassan it’s dinner time”. I wanted to eat my gummy first but I thought I should listen to my mom. So I finished my dinner I went to my room and un- boxed the gummy my sister came and said

“can I have it” “no, and get out of my room!!”

“Fine” she said.

“Now he goes nothing” I said to myself then I gobbled it up like foxy loxy eating chicken little. “Man what a day.” I said to myself.

Deck the Halls

Once again the 4th grade hallway is beginning to look festive. The Target dog has plugged in the holiday lights.

Now we would like to wrap our lockers in holiday wrapping paper. We are asking each student to cut a piece of holiday wrapping paper that is 10 inches wide and 59 inches long. Please bring it in on Monday. Then we will tape it to their locker. Having the student work on measuring the paper is another way to practice a math skill. Here is a sample of last year’s lockers.
