First Grade Market Day

Please come and join the first graders as we celebrate the ending of our Economics unit with Market Day! Market Day is all about determining wants and needs, producing goods and services and trading. Family and friends are invited to help celebrate the world of producers and consumers by shopping at our market from 9am-11am on Tuesday, April 24th. All goods will range from .10 cents to $1.00. All Haigh students will have the opportunity to shop at our market, so if your child would like to purchase something, please send them to school with money. Hope to see you Tuesday!

Thanks for your support,

The First Grade Teachers

Dime Challenge

It’s time for the Dime challenge!

This week, we are continuing our endangered animal adoption project. We are reusing milk jugs to collect money for adopting a wolf through the Detroit Zoo, and we need your help!

We are asking for your help with our “Coins for a Cause” challenge.

Bring in as many extra dimes as you can to help fill our jugs! At the end of the week, we’ll count up the totals and announce our winners!

Arcade Creations

The students worked hard this week to create their games. Most of them took them home to keep until our arcade day. Some of them still had a few minor things to do to finish their game. Please don’t throw them away. We will have our arcade set up at the end of April for some of the younger classes to enjoy. I will let you know next week what day it will be held on.

Arcade Games

Caine’s Arcade Challenge

The 4th and 5th grade classes are participating in a cardboard challenge in honor of Earth Day. Students are creating a game that is primarily made out of a cardboard box. If you have not had the chance to watch the video, Caine’s Arcade – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=faIFNkdq96U, please do so. The focus is to use recycled materials, please don’t run out and buy items.

Tomorrow we will start working on these projects in class. The students were told to bring in their materials for science. It will be used for a grade for engineering design. The students are working solo or with a partner.

The games will be used for the kids to have a chance to share and play them at the end of this month.
