The class made cards to be delivered to our veterans. Our cards are being picked up by our United States Representative – Debbie Dingell.

As part of City Beautiful and our Green School Initiative, Haigh will be honoring the Earth with our Annual Planting Day on Friday, May 20. For this event, we are asking each student to bring a potted flower to school on this day. For this event students will be planting their flowers in one of the school’s garden areas. Planting will take place by grade level,our time is 10:15 – 10:45. Please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately for this event, as we will be outdoors and working with soil. We are all very excited, and looking forward to helping the Earth, and keeping our City Beautiful.

After our successful NWEA testing the students and I talked about what they can do so they won’t slip on their scores in the fall. They had a wealth of ideas to share so we decided to put a list together and share it on the blog.

The students have completed their ELA testing for the M Step.  Next week we will do the math portion of the test. That will leave us only the science to complete, either at the end of next week or the beginning of the following week. Most of the children are taking their time on the test. Please continue to encourage this behavior as they complete the M Step.

This test will be about food chains, food webs, producers, primary consumers, secondary consumers, decomposers, physical traits of animals, changes in ecosystem and positive human impact on the environment.

Students have study tools in their science notebooks, websites, internet games, and songs.
