| Learning Targets/Objectives for “Sun, Moon, Earth”
Cycle 1: Designing Ways to Observe the Sky• Identify the Sun and Moon as common sky objects, and to observe them in order to contrast and compare them.
 • Use direct observations, to explain the motions and characteristics of sky objects.
 • To understand motions in the sky as regular patterns
 • To be able to use various tools, from simple to more complex, to observe the sky and use the observations to understand the objects in the sky.
 • Model the motions of the Sun and Moon as they appear in the sky.
 • To be able to reproduce images from observations taken, e.g. Moon and Sun drawings.
Cycle 2: Making Sense of Observations of the Sky
• Explain how the shape of the Moon follows a predictable cycle.• Describe the motion of the Moon around the Earth.
 • Describe the apparent motion of the Sun and Moon through the sky.
 • Describe the amount of time for the Moon cycle.
Identify the causes of Moon phases.
 • Show how the movement of the Earth causes  day and night
Show how the movement of the Earth causes the seasons | |
