When will winter ever end? It sure will be cold the next two days so be sure that your child is dressed appropriately.
Our class did an awesome job on their first states and capitals test! This week we will be focusing on 5 states in the west region. Be sure that your child studies his/her map each night.
West Region– Washington-Olympia, Oregon-Salem, California-Sacramento, Alaska-Juneau, Hawaii-Honolulu
Homework
Spelling– Write your words 2 times each in cursive on paper. Sign and correct your test.
Math- Do Succeed workbook 5-2 Lesson 7
Social Studies– Study new states and capitals. Sign states and capitals test.
Read at least 20 minutes and write in your log.
This Week’s Objectives
Literacy
-The students will continue working on identifying the 4 types of sentences (declarative, interrogative, imperative, exclamatory) and working on conjunctions.
Writing
– The students will begin work on a narrative and paragraph writing.
Science
-The students will continue focusing on the force of gravity and its effects. We will then look at what causes nighttime and daytime.
Social Studies
– The students will be studying the three colonial regions in the New World including their economics, landforms, religion and government.
Math
-The students will continue multiplying multi-digit whole numbers and multiples of 10 using place value patterns and the distributive and associative properties. We will also be converting numerical expressions into unit form as a mental strategy for multi-digit multiplication.
