JOURNAL: College Essay – – Explain what historical moment/event you wish you could have witnessed.

Little bit of a roadblock today. I had planned on starting our independent argumentative essay today on the topic of tap water v. bottled water, but it seems that our students did that topic already. SO, a quick change of plans…we brainstormed as a class three topics they could research and write on. I will post those in Google classroom as we finalize our selections.

JOURNAL:  College Essay – – Explain what you hope will change about the place where you live (Michigan and/or Dearborn) and how that would be a change for the better.

1.New challenge introduced – INDIVIDUAL and summative: After studying various different poets and themes, you have started to understand how much a poet’s life and life’s experiences influence his/her poetry. You have decided to enter a “Poetry Imitates Life” contest.  In order to have a chance at the $5,000 prize, you will need to research a poet’s poetry, life, and world to truly understand how life and poetry interrelate.  You then can get started on your own poem.  Good luck!

HOMEWORK:  Finish IXLs K.3 and K to 95% by Tuesday (you will have time in class Monday). If you have not finished all paragraphs EXCEPT for the conclusion, these need to be completed by Monday.
