Mid-Week Check-In

Can you believe that we are entering our third week of this??? I still can’t believe that we are in the crisis that we are in. I miss seeing all of you and miss hearing what you are up to 🙁 I wanted to just make a couple of comments to update everyone.

  1. NO, there will be no work assigned next week as it is Spring Break 🙂
  2. School is STILL in session. Governor Whitmore will be giving us some more clarification tomorrow about whether or not we will be seeing each face-to-face again this year, but whatever the announcement may be, online learning will continue to take place.
  3. After Spring Break I hope to have some Google Hangout sessions so that we can see and engage with each other in an academic way, so look for that to happen 🙂
  4. Academic dishonesty. I know that an all online curriculum makes it much easier to share work among each other, but it is cheating and will NOT be tolerated. Also, it is not “helping” each other when work is virtually word-for-word the same as other students.

Be safe everyone!

Take care of each other and I can’t wait to see all of again 🙂

Week of March 30th Assignments

I hope that everyone is doing well and continuing to stay safe! I know that there remains a lot of confusion out there about what is counting and what isn’t counting; hopefully, we will get more clarification on that this week.

Needless to say, remember, it is about the LEARNING not the potential points. Keep getting those assignments in, so that you are on top of whatever comes next!

Mid-Week Check In

Hi everybody! It is hard to believe, but we are into week 2 of not seeing each other. I hope that everyone is staying safe and healthy.

I want to thank all of the 6th and 8th graders…98% of you turned in your work and did a great job. I recorded the completion of the work in Student Connect with a “grade” of 1 point. This will communicate to you what was and was not done AND it will serve as a record too. We are hoping that our State Legislature will count these days as a part of the 180 required days of school. Proving that our students are still learning from home will help send the message that we got this virtual learning thing!

Keep up the good work 🙂

Week of March 23

I hope that everyone is doing well and staying safe! I know that there is a lot of confusion out there about what is counting, what isn’t counting, what is going to happen next, and the list goes on and on.

I want to say that I am committed to continuing to provide enriching assignments that will further your learning and bring a sense of stability and normalcy during these difficult times. The work that I am assigning is work that I would be assigning (just in a non-PBL way) if we were still seeing each other face-to-face. Remember, it is about the LEARNING not the points.

That said, THANK YOU for all the support parents are providing during this time and to ALL of students completing and submitting work on time. Last wee we saw a 95% completion rate 🙂 Keep up the fantastic work!
