NO Journal today.

Students worked on their second book check in for their capstone projects. The assignment is in Google Classroom. They will get time tomorrow to finish.

6th Grade – 3rd Hour ONLY

JOURNAL: Your Choice – –

Worked on Mini- presentation topics – two groups get the same topic, but one group does it as persuasive and the other group   does it as argumentative.

HOMEWORK:  Presenting mini speech tomorrow.

JOURNAL:  Second Semester – – Reflect on your first semester and set realistic goals for your last semester as an 8th grader.  REMEMBER…THIS NOW NEEDS TO BE A FULL PAGE.

1.“I like to see it lap the Miles” by Emily Dickinson (individual) – this will be posted in Google Classroom.

2.Discuss as a small group, then a large one.

HOMEWORK:  Book Check in #2 is TOMORROW.  You need your notes and/or books.  You will have access to a computer tomorrow, so you do not to print anything else.   

6th Grade – 3rd HOUR ONLY

JOURNAL:  Pizza – – Convince me that pizza is the best or worst food.

1.Finish discussing “Summer: 15 Days or 2.5 Months?” and “The Best Pet Ever…Gus”

2.Mini Debate topics with partner – two groups get the same topic, but one group does it as persuasive and the other group   does it as argumentative.

HOMEWORK:  Next book check is WEDNESDAY. You will need your 3 books and any notes that you have. You will have access to a computer this time, so if your notes are online you will not have to print them off.

6th Grade 3rd Hour ONLY

JOURNAL:  Story Dice – – flashlight, fish, castle, house, fountain, half moon, footprint, turtle, and arrow

1.Read and highlight the facts discussed in the articles “Summer: 15 Days or 2.5 Months?” and “A Pet Story About My Cat…Gus”

NWEA testing starts tomorrow with the reading test. It is important that you are here for testing. HOWEVER, the flu has started to hit STEM. Please stay home if this is the case.

8th Grade

Journal: College Essay- – What is your favorite word and why?  Be sure to explain.   – University of Virginia

Today we started to read, annotate, and discuss “The Charge of the Light Brigade” as a class; looking for figurative language and meaning.

* Due to the SkyDome assembly tomorrow, I collected journals from 1st and 2nd hours today.

HOMEWORK:  NWEA testing next Tuesday (reading), Wednesday (Math), and Thursday (Language).

6th Grade

JOURNAL: Philosophical Question – – When you go to a movie theater and the seats have armrests, which one is yours and which your neighbors?  Have a good explanation for your answer.

1.Peer critique for introductions and body 1

2.Revise/edit introductions and body 1

3.Write body 2 – you are on your own for this one.  We will not be outlining it as a class.  You can still use your notes and resources for help. 

HOMEWORK:  Have your introduction, body 1, and body 2 COMPLETE when you walk in to class tomorrow 🙂
