Week of March 16th Plans

Hi everyone! I hope that everyone is doing well and feeling healthy. Here goes our first week of online learning! I am going to attempt to continue with the lessons that I was going to teach if we were in school. The difference being that we will not be able to do project based and 6th graders, instead of reading a novel, will be doing it through short stories. If you are having technology issues, please let me know and we will try and work out a solution.

Below you will find a summary of the expectations for the week. All actual materials are in Google Classroom.

If you have any questions, please email me. It’s NO bother! Our classroom is now digital 🙂

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through our new reality.

8th Grade

  1. Poetry essay and original poem are due TODAY (MONDAY) by 11:59PM. There are individual Google Classroom assignments to submit these assignments to.
  2. There are 3 journals for you to complete. One of them is the annual 8th grade yearbook question. Ms. Bissonette and I will have to work on the yearbook during this time and we want to make sure that your yearbook is great despite our current situation. There is a Google Doc for these.
  3. Third Book Check In for the Capstone Project – see Google Doc in Classroom.
  4. PSAT Friday (well sort of). Answers will be posted on Friday. Stay honest! 35 minutes! You do not need to submit anything. Just write your answers on a piece of paper.
  5. Read the story “Abuela Invents the Zero“. More to do with this next week.

ALL ASSIGNMENTS, EXCEPT ESSAY AND POEM, ARE DUE FRIDAY.

6th Grade

  1. There are 3 journals for you to complete. There is a Google Doc for these in Google Classroom.
  2. Read the story “Lob’s Girl” – In Google Classroom. Remember our essential question: How does friendship improve a person’s life and his/her circumstances?
  3. Answer the three TED format questions – in Google Classroom.
  4. IXL P.1 (95%) – linked in Google Classroom.

ALL ASSIGNMENTS, EXCEPT ESSAY AND POEM, ARE DUE FRIDAY.
