8th Grade

Would You Rather? – – Be the first person to explore a planet or discover an island?  Explain.

1. Small group read two speeches (Patrick Henry and Samuel Adams) – box and summarize

2.After you box and summarize, highlight and label the different arguments:

  a.  Blue – pathos

  b.  Red – ethos

  c.  Green – logos

Students did an EXCELLENT job working on these and translating them. It took a little longer than expected, but the critical thinking and collaboration was worth the time spent.

HOMEWORK:  IXLs C.1 and L.1 (95% – by Friday)

6th Grade

JOURNAL: Conflict – – Write 3 scenarios – one that has a person v. person conflict, one with a person v. self conflict, and one with a person v. nature conflict.

1.Group challenge – specifically, students worked with their team to make sure that the climax of their story made sense and was a good mid-way point between their conflict and their resolution.

2. I handed back the quiz that students took on Monday. I will meet with students who did not do well to talk with them about a retake opportunity next week after school.
