Using Google Classroom’s Features

Now that we have a few weeks under our belts doing remote learning, we have discovered some common issues, misunderstandings, and problems. I have made a few tutorials that I hope will troubleshoot these issues going forward. The videos are not professional grade and may have some mistakes but they are useful and answer many questions.

Keep Up the Good Work!

Parents, Families, and Students,

Thank you for all your hard work and commitment during this unprecedented time. Thank you for doing your best – despite all the different challenges that you’ve faced. Thank you for making sure your child is attempting the work and working to their best ability in this new realm of remote learning. We’re almost done with this school year.

Just a quick reminder that per the Governor’s orders for Continuity of Learning, schools are required to grade for this last card marking in ALL subjects including Specials. Here are the district’s guidelines for grading ELEMENTARY students. Report cards will show these letters (M, P, L)

  • Meeting (M):  regularly submitted work and attended check-ins
    • Accuracy of work assessed on standards/graded/recorded in MiStar
    • High participation
  • Progressing (P):  Submitted most assignments and attended some of the check-ins
  • Limited Participation (L):  with one of the following explanations
    • Rarely or did not submit work (may be required to attend summer school)
    • Rarely attended check-in sessions (may be required to attend summer school)
    • Family hardship during the time of instruction (summer support offered)

Participation includes doing assignments on Google Classroom and assigned activities on specified websites.

Special Area Classes (Gym, Music, Art, Media)- You need to check into special teachers’ blogs or Google Classroom to meet their criteria. These are located on my Google Classrooms.

Again, thank you for all you are doing during this stressful time.

We may not be all in the same boat, but we are all in the same storm.

stay healthy helpful and calm

All assignments and materials have been updated for both 3rd grade and 2nd grade. Please check daily as assignments are released through out the week to help pace and break up large tasks.

Brain Pop- Please use my class code: topic6041 to access videos. You may need to create your own account login- if you joined Ms. Green’s class you can use that login. Just remember it because I didn’t create it so I can’t retrieve it for you if you forget.

2nd Grade- I am working on setting up a Spelling City account to work with the lists that Ms. Marano has created. I’ll send you info as soon as I have it worked out.

Learning Materials Pick Up

Learning materials will be available for all River Oaks’ students tomorrow. Tuesday, May 5 at River Oaks from 12-3 PM.

Learning Materials will be packaged by family so all of your children at River Oaks materials will be in one package. Only one person from family needs to come.

This will be Drive-Thru style.

  • Stay in your vehicle.
  • Stay in the drive thru lane and pull forward.
  • Pop your trunk or roll down your back windows as you approach the pick up point.
  • Tell the staff member your student’s name/family name.
  • A staff member will place it in your vehicle.
  • Another person may pick up for you if you are unable to make it during this time. They will need to know your students’ names.

Learning materials include the following:

  • ALL Eureka Math books for the rest of the year
