2nd Grade- Week 2 Assignments and Activities

Hi! Here we go Week 2. Thank you for all that you are doing. You should be getting Class Dojo messages from Ms. Al-Zaharnah or Ms. Marano. They are taking the lead for 2nd Grade. 


Reading:

Raz Kids – at least 5 books per week. Please listen, read and take quizzes. The books are from the Level Up section. You will have to pass the quizzes to unlock more books.


ELA: 

Use IXL and complete the starred activities. Do 1-2 skills per day at least.


Math: 

You need to be logging into Zearn daily. This week’s lessons are 17,18,19,and 20. Please do the COMPLETE lesson. There are videos, Sprints, Application problems, and Problem sets.


Writing: 

Daily Journal to Writing Prompts on Classroom Portfolio through Dojo.


Spelling:

Social Studies:

3rd Grade: Week 2 Assignments and Activities

We are adding Zearn lessons to Math and are backing off on IXL Math and just doing review activities for IXL MATH. Pick a few STARRED math skills to work on. Of course you can continue working on Fractions if you want.

Zearn follows Eureka Math and has a video lesson, sprints, application problems and problem sets. If your student does not remember their Zearn logins, please contact me.

We have also added suggestions to practice Spelling and a Digital Journal on Google Classroom.

Please remember to do what you can. Break it up. First and foremost, stay home, be safe, stay healthy, save lives.

Spelling Pattern Week 25: /le/

  1. tickle

  • *Monday– Write each word 3 times each
  • *Tuesday– Write the meaning of each word
  • *Wednesday– Put the word in a sentence 
  • *Thursday– Find more words with the same pattern, ex: pickle, fiddle, cuddle etc. 
  • *Friday– Have someone give you a spelling test, how did you do? 

Language Arts:

IXL Skills – please look for starred skills under 3rd grade

  • ❒ S-Opinion Writing: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6

Raz-Kids:

5 books and quizzes per week. Students can record their voice for reading. If your child has shorter books, they need to read 2-3 books per DAY. Your child should listen, read AND do the quiz for each book. They need to be working on level up, not in the reading room. Also, if your child is having trouble on the quiz with a specific skill for example, the author’s purpose: they can use IXL to strengthen their skill then complete the quiz. If your child does not complete all tasks, they can’t go to the next level.    

Math:

Complete 1 Zearn Lesson AND few IXL skills per DAY 

Zearn: Lessons 14-18 for week 2. One lesson per day. 

IXL Skills: Review- please look for starred skills under 3rd grade 

  • ❒ K-Division Fluency: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 & 12 
  • ❒ F- Multiplication skill builders: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 & 12 

Writing:

Students will write in their journals daily. Please have them date every page. They have a choice to write what they did that day or create their own story, opinion piece or research topic. They can type their journal on Google Classroom under Daily Journal. They will not submit until school starts.  

Science:

Please click on the link. Watch the video and answer the questions throughout the video. Do the experiment by finding the materials at home. Please don’t leave your house to buy materials. Try your best and improvise when needed. 

There are extended reading and activities for each lesson if you would like to complete them.

Social Studies

Continue working on Michigan’s Government through Google Classroom. You may answer the stop sign questions either in a notebook or on a Google Doc and submit it when school resumes.

 Stay active! Download the App and get moving! If you can’t download the App, go on YouTube and search GoNoodle.

Chromebook Check out

If you were unable to check out a Chromebook on Thursday, we will be having another opportunity on Monday, March 23rd at 9:00.  Please use the pickup/drop lane.  Parents will stay in their car and a staff member will assist you.  Please wear gloves if possible and remain at least six feet from staff.  A parent has to check the Chromebook out.  This will be the last opportunity to check one out. 

You will need working WiFi at your residence. Families are responsible for any damages that incur while it is in their possession.

Chromebooks -Tomorrow ONLY

Tomorrow, Thursday, March 19 at 9:00 AM – River Oaks is loaning Chromebooks for use during this closure. Parents are able to check out 1 Chromebook per FAMILY. You will need working WiFi at your residence to be able to use them. Families are responsible for any damages incurred. This will be done in a drive-thru manner. You will not have to get out of your car.

Please pass this info on to other River Oaks’ families that might not know.

Please make sure that when you go to IXL that you are logging in to the River Oaks page.

Then have your students log in with their username and password.

If your child is doing activities but is not logged on, then their progress is not recorded or tracked, and their time may be limited. You know they are logged on if their name is at the top right hand side of the screen.

Username is first initial and last name pushed together. Several students have a number following their name. Their password is red and their class number.

example: Frankie Turtle would be fturtle. Password would be red25
