Dearborn Historical Museum
Monday, March 23, 9-11:30. Cost $5/ student – Chaperones Free. Wear weather appropriate clothes. There are stairs. 3 Chaperones needed. May ride the bus.
We will be visiting Dearborn’s Historical Museum near the intersection of Brady and Michigan Avenue (only about 7 minutes away). We will be experiencing and learning about Dearborn in the early 1800’s. This is arranged through Dearborn Public Schools as part of our curriculum. We will rotate through 3 stations learning about planting, butter making, and family life. Then we will have a brief presentation as a whole class in the one room schoolhouse where we will do a lesson using slates and pioneer text books. We will then return to River Oaks to have lunch as usual. And then complete the rest of our academic day.
There will be another school group from Howe Elementary and I believe we are sharing the bus (the classes will sit on opposite sides of the aisle). However, they will have the opposite schedule as us. While we do stations, they will be in the school house and then we will switch. So there will be minimal, if any contact with them. I will bring hand sanitizer and Clorox wipes to use as needed.
Troy Historical Village

We will be the only group at this small village about the size of the River Oaks Playground. We will be eating lunch there. I will bring hand sanitizer and Clorox wipes with me to ensure a clean safe environment for our students and staff. The only people we will have contact with are the museum workers.
