Welcome Back!

Happy 2019!

I hope you enjoyed your time with your student over break. I missed them greatly and found myself thinking of them often! We have a truly amazing group of students this year. They couldn’t wait to share with their classmates and I all the highlights of their vacation. Thank you so much for thinking of me this holiday season with all the wonderful gifts you shared with me. I am truly lucky to teach your student.

Here are a few of this week’s highlights.

  • NWEA testing for Reading and Math will be happening over the next few weeks. A schedule is being made and I will share our testing times as soon as I know. Please encourage your child to take their time and do their best. Encourage them to read the directions/problem carefully and to make sure that their answers make sense. On test days, don’t forget to have your child eat a healthy breakfast including protein, such as yogurt or eggs, to help their brain function at its best!
  • Parents, please read and SIGN the planner DAILY. All students record all homework and notes about events in their planners every day. Encourage your child to use their planner as a To-Do list and reminder of what homework they need to do. You can also use the planner as a tool to ask about your child’s day. Any unfinished classwork is sent home at least weekly on the “Return to School” side of the green folder. Any work on that side, must be completed and returned to school. If you are unsure about work needing to be done or not, feel free to write a note in the planner asking about it, or just have them complete it and return it. It’s always good practice!
  • Green folders- Parents, please go through your child’s folder DAILY. Homework and unfinished work is sent home on a DAILY basis. Corrected work is returned at least once per week, and is place on the “Keep at Home’ side of the folder. Please look through these papers as it will give you insight into what your child is doing in class and their strengths and weaknesses. Also all notes regarding school policies and events will be on that side also.
