Spelling Words for 4/23

Contractions are what we are working on in spelling this week! A contraction is a shortened form of two words pushed together. An apostrophe is used to show that letters have been removed. Students need to know how to spell the contraction with the correct placement of the apostrophe, as well as, the two words that were combined to make the contraction. For instance, I’m is the contraction of I am. The apostrophe shows that we took the ‘a’ out of the word am.

The words are:

  • didn’t
  • they’ve
  • she’ll
  • he’s
  • wouldn’t
  • can’t
  • we’ve
  • we’ll
  • she’s
  • couldn’t
  • don’t
  • doesn’t
  • let’s
  • aren’t
  • wasn’t
