Monday 3/19:
- Students received a new booklet titled “Punctuation Power” (see me if you need a copy). We began work with using direct quotes within our sentences. Here are the notes:
- Use quotation marks to enclose a direct quote.
- Begin a direct quote with capital letters.
- When a direct quote is interrupted to identify the speaker, the second part of the quote continues with lower case.
- Students received Article of the Week #4. We practiced asking deeper thinking questions and had a discussion. Students were challenged to keep the conversation going. The reflection is due by the end of the day on Tuesday on Google Classroom, and the actual article is due with all highlighting and annotations done by Wednesday in class.
