Warm clothes

The cold part of fall has now began, winter is almost here. With this colder weather, please watch or listen to the weather reports so you can dress your student properly for the days. Most days the students will go out for recess and they may be waiting for and walk to the bus in the morning and afternoon. If it si cold, please make sure your child is dressed warmly with appropriate clothing (coat, boots, for snow, mittens, scarves, etc.). We will only inside days if the temperature is extremely cold. Children need fresh air and exercise, so dress them to be outdoors. Also, students will need boots the be able to play in the snow. We do not want them to get their other shoes wet then have to wear them all day.

Kindergarten Reading Homework

As we start getting into the swing of reading groups in the classroom this week, students will be expected to take home their reading bags for extra practice. Your child’s reading bag will contain a small number of books (more will be added throughout the week) at his/her reading level. The reading bag is expected to go home EVERY night. PLEASE HELP REMIND YOUR CHILD TO BRING HIS/HER READING BAG BACK TO SCHOOL THE VERY NEXT DAY.

As more books are added, your child should practice reading the materials in their bag for about 15 MINUTES EVERY NIGHT! This should be an enjoyable time! Please do NOT read the leveled books to your child; but DO talk with your child / ask questions about the story and give help when needed. It is important that your child listens to YOU read a favorite storybook from home every night! By listening to you or other grown-ups read, children can hear how we “read like we talk.”

Thank you in advance for helping your child enjoy reading and for reinforcing the core value of responsibility at home!
