Week3/30/2020

Hello Parents and friends!!

3/30/2020

Here is a schedule of what is expected of you each day. For example, you look at Monday and scroll down. You will see activities that need to be done for  ELA, Math, Brain Break, Social Studies and Science. You are only expected to finish those listed for Monday. You do not need to continue on to Tuesday or any other day. When it is Tuesday, you are expected to do the work listed under Tuesday and so on.

Thursdays and Fridays are Make up days– which means any work that wasn’t finished can be done that day. I will be checking your work daily.I know I have the best third graders in the world and you will get your work done.

Also, you need to keep up with Gym, Music, Science Enrichment, and Art.  Check out their blogs.

Detroit Public TV Programming for Kids

Starting MondayMarch 30, Detroit Public TV is responding to the learning needs of families with children at home as a result of Michigan schools being closed because of the COVID-19 crisis by adjusting its entire daytime programming schedule.

From 7am until 6pm Monday through Friday, DPTV will offer blocks of programming geared to specific age groups – early childhoodmiddle school and high school – on its main broadcast channel (56.1), as part of a collaboration with Michigan’s public television stations and the national PBS system.

DPTV’s schedule during those hours will be filled with PBS programming that aligns to curriculum goals, with online learning activities associated with each show.

The new daytime schedule draws on many popular PBS programs, like “Masterpiece,” “NOVA,” “American Experience,” and recent specials, we know our adult viewers who also find themselves at home will find it appealing.

While Michigan schools are closed this school year, weekday programming will be as follows:

  • 7am to 9am — Current PBS KIDS programming (Ages 2-8 years old)
  • 9am to 1pm — Grades 4th-8th
  • 1pm to 6pm — Grades 9th-12th

Parents and caregivers seeking traditional PBS KIDS programming after 9am will find it on the 24/7 Detroit PBS KIDS Channel (56.2). Programming will go back to our original schedule once the need is over.

In this challenging time, Detroit Public TV remains committed to creating content and resources that lead to positive outcomes for all in our community.
