‘Twas the night before the first day of school,
and all through the town,
Dearborn parents are cheering,
Oh what a riotous sound!
By 9 p.m., the children will be showered
And tucked into bed…
When memories of homework,
May fill them with dread.
As their backpacks are hung, by the door with care,
Hoping for the morning, for them to soon be there.
New pencils, new folders, and new clothes too!
New teachers, new friends…
As their anxiety grew!
The parents will just giggle,
When they hear of this fright,
And shout “Go to bed! It’s a school night!”
