Fish

Our fish tanks are ready to be populated.  We have 2 aquariums thanks to Ryan and Nuha.  Also, thanks to the donations of money and materials from students, we have filters, heaters, thermometers, rocks, plastic plants, background pictures, and statues.   We’re ready to roll.  Students are beginning to donate $5 to sponsor a fish,(or a group of students can sponsor a fish).  They’ll receive a certificate that will be on the wall and they can “name” their fish. I’ve never had an aquarium before but I’ve been reading up on it. I do know we’ll  need lots of help maintaining the tanks as well as some more donations for food, replacement filters, etc.  Students will be able to sign up to stay after school, or come in early every couple weeks for maintenance.  This will be a great experience for everyone to learn about responsibility of owning a pet.

These are the worksheets we used as bellwork and classwork.  The classwork ones are on page 5A and 5B.  Also the frayer model and the Article of the Week.

The following are from the flipchart in class. It tell you what to write in the first page of your spiral notebook for bellwork as well as the first page of your Interactive Student Notebook (ISN) which is a composition notebook.  You must bring both of these books to class EVERY DAY.   It also gives the directions for the Scientist Brochure.
