Lansing Field Trip
Our Lansing field trip is Wednesday, April 15. We will need chaperones for this trip. If you are able to chaperone, please let me know. You must have an i-chat chaperone form filled out with the office. Thank you.
Parent Meeting
This is just a friendly reminder that the important Read by Third Grade parent meeting will be held tomorrow. There will be two sessions, one at 9:00am and one at 2:30pm in the media center. We hope to see everyone there!

Parent Meeting Rescheduled
Due to last week’s snow day, the informational meeting about the Read by Third Law has been rescheduled for Friday, March 6 at 9:00 and 2:30. The material being presented is very important so please do your best to attend one of the meetings. Thank you
March is Reading Month
A calendar went home today with activities for March is Reading Month. Bingo for books is on Tuesday from 4:00-5:00 in the cafeteria.
Also, if you would like to volunteer to read a book to the class, please let me know and we can figure out a time for you to come in to read. You can bring a book to read or I will have some to choose from.

Wednesday’s parent meeting topic is so important that we will be presenting the information at 9:00 and then again at 5:00. It is our hope that every parent, especially parents of students in grades K-3 can attend.We will be covering the “Read by Third Grade” Law and what it means for your children. Please do your best to attend.
Parent Survey
Geer Park has received the D-Shines grant. As part of this grant our students will learn about nutrition and health. We are asking that parents complete a survey as part of our program. The survey is designed to gather physical activity and nutrition information as well as thoughts about the program from the community. This link to the survey is below. Thank you for participating.

What: Parent Meeting
When: Wednesday, February 26, 9:00 meeting and 5:00 meeting
Where: Geer Park Media Center
Subject: Read by Third Grade Law
This meeting will be held twice because of the important information that will be covered. We will address all questions and details about the “Read by Third Grade Law.” It is for all parents but will focus on information needed for our K-3 parents. Third grade parents received a letter about how this law may affect their child. Please bring any questions you may have about this letter as well. We will send out a reminder the week of the meeting.
WIDA Testing
WIDA testing will begin next week. Third graders who take the test will be taking the listening portion on Tuesday, February 4. Please make sure they get a good night’s sleep and eat a healthy breakfast.
