Geer Park Penny War!

The students had a school-wide writing assignment on generosity.  As a follow up, the students of Geer Park will be raising money for Ronald McDonald House.  It is a charity that helps provide assistance to families of sick children.

From now until December 16 each class will be collecting pennies.  The class with the most pennies will receive a pizza party!
There is a catch!  If a student brings in silver coins or dollar bills, they can drop them in a DIFFERENT class jar, which will subtract the from the amount of that class.  For example, if our class has 100 pennies and Mrs. Hider’s class dropped ten dimes in our jar, we would be back at zero.  So, we want pennies for our jar and silver coins and dollar bills for other class jars.

The pennies can be dropped in the jars outside of the school office each morning before school.  The winner will be announced December 17.

Spelling words and dry erase markers

Many of the dry erase markers that the students brought in at the beginning of the school year are beginning to dry out.  It is important that students have dry erase markers in class.  We use them daily.  Thin markers work the best.
