Yesterday your child brought home a study guide on clock vocabulary. We will have a quiz on the vocabulary on Friday.
Here is what was on the study guide:
Minute hand– tells how many minutes
Hour hand– tells the hour
Half past-30 minutes past the hour
Quarter to– 15 minutes before the hour
Quarter after– 15 minutes after the hour
60 minutes in an hour
30 minutes in 1/2 an hour
15 minutes in a quarter hour
Math– In math this week we will continue to work on telling time to the nearest minute. We will also be learning about elapsed time. Later in the week we will begin learning about and working with graphs.
Social Studies– We will begin this week learning about cardinal directions (north, south, east, west) then will be finding and labeling Michigan’s peninsulas and the Great Lakes on a map.
Writing- Students are working on writing personal narratives. Students are learning to begin their writing with an interesting hook to get their reader to want to keep reading the piece of writing.

Tuesday September 21 is Chef’s Choice on the lunch menu. First choice will be nachos and cheese. Second choice will be peanut butter and jelly.
We will be having a very informative third grade parent meeting on Friday September 18th at 10:40-11:25 in Ms. Shalhout’s room (room 206). We will discuss classroom procedures, Geer Park procedures, and homework. I look forward to seeing you there.
