Starting next week we will start taking the NWEA tests.  Students will be tested in language, science, reading, and math.  This will be spread out over the next two weeks.  It is very important that students arrive to school on time and get a good night’s sleep to be ready to test.

Students will be taking a science test on light on Tuesday January 17.  We did the study guide today and class and students brought home the study guide to study from.

Last week all of the third grade classes did a perimeter activity together.  They used toilet paper to make shapes with different perimeters.  We also figured out the perimeter of the cafeteria!

Dear Parents,

Today the students brought home their homework for break.  Each student picked out a chapter book with my help.  They are to write a short summary of each chapter.  The summaries can be written out on paper or they can go to google classroom where I have created it as an assignment and type their summaries on there.  These summaries do not need to be long!

I also created some Study Island assignments for the students. The students have the login information for Study Island in their planners.   They also need to go on Fact Fluency on MobyMax.   Of course they can go on Study Island and Moby Max more than is assigned.  They can also go on Myon for reading over break.

I have decided to give the students another day to review measuring. The math test will be on Monday instead of Friday.  To help study, students can practice line plots, measuring inches, area, and perimeter on Study Island.

Due to the snow day, first choice lunch will be chicken nuggets tomorrow.  Second choice will be peanut butter and jelly.

We have a lot going on this week!

Social Studies– We will be taking the district social studies assessment on Thursday.  We have been reviewing in class.  Students brought home a study guide today as well.

Student of the Month- Marwaa is our November student of the month and Omar is our December student of the month.  Congratulations Marwaa and Omar!  The student of the month assembly will be on Friday, December 16 at 9:40 in the gym.

Math- This week we will be finishing up the unit on measuring, area, and perimeter.  We will be taking the test on this unit on Friday.  The next unit will focus on multiplication.  Students need to be practicing multiplication facts daily.  They can do this by using flash cards and also going on Moby Max.
