Tomorrow is our trip to Greenfield Village. Students need to pack a lunch. It should be in a grocery bag or another bag that is easy to carry. They are allowed to wear small back packs if they want, but not their full sized bookbag. Please make sure that your child is on time tomorrow morning. Thank you!
The teachers at Geer Park need your help! We want to provide the children with interesting and fun facts about various careers! We are planning to have a “Career Day” on May 30th, 2017! The presentations will begin at 9am and should be over by 11am. We need some parents and/or volunteers to present and explain the duties of their careers to the children!
The presentations should last only 10 minutes per rotation. If you will help us by presenting or providing a speaker, please let your child’s teacher know as soon as possible or stop by the office and tell Mrs. Dawson!

Today students finished the English Language Arts portion of the MStep. Tomorrow they will begin the math portion of the test. Students are welcome to bring a snack if they wish. Wednesday students who are doing the paper pencil version of the test will be finishing the math portion. Thursday students will do the math performance task portion of the MStep.
It is very important that students get to school on time and eat breakfast before school on these testing days.
Spelling-
Since students are testing so much this week, there will be no spelling words for the week.
Kickball-
Friday is the teachers vs. 5th grade students kickball game. Students who have earned enough points to participate will be able to attend. Snacks will be sold at the kickball game.
Greenfield Village-
May 18 is the third grade field trip to Greenfield Village. If you have not already done so, please return the permission slip and $5 as soon as possible. We are still in need of chaperones for this trip. Chaperones will have to follow the bus and meet us there due to limited space on the bus. If you are able to be a chaperone, please let me know.
Dear Parents,
Geer Park is having a clean-up parade on May 24th. The third grade theme will be paint up. The idea is that we are encouraging people to keep things painted and fresh in the neighborhood. We will be painting t-shirts at school. We are asking that students either bring in a white t-shirt by Friday or $4 and we will provide a t-shirt at school.
We will be painting these t-shirts at school next week. It will be a fun activity one afternoon after MSTEP testing.
MSTEP- MSTEP for English Language Arts will begin this week. Students who are taking it using paper/pencil will begin on Tuesday. Students who are taking it on the computer will begin taking it on Wednesday.
Math- We are finishing our unit on fractions. I will be giving the test on Tuesday. We have been reviewing partitioning a shape and labeling fractions on a number line in class.
Spelling- There will be no spelling list this week due to MSTEP.
Greenfield Village Field Trip- Third grade is taking a field trip to Greenfield Village on May 18. We will be sending the permission slip home this week. Chaperones are needed on this field trip but they will have to drive themselves since there is limited space on the bus. Please let me know if you are able to chaperone our trip.
