Week of February 10

Concert/Honor Roll Certificates
Due to the many snow days, the concert will now be held during the music class time of each class.  The honor roll certificates will also be given out at that time.  It will be on Thursday, February 14 at 9:40 am.

Valentine’s Day
Thursday is Valentine’s Day.  Students can bring in Valentines/candy to pass out to their classmates on this day.  We have 23 students in our class.

Social Studies
You may have noticed that I have been sending home the social studies packet more frequently lately.  I anticipate we will take the test in about 2 weeks.  I will let you know when we get closer to the end of the unit.
We had a class discussion on how it will help them out to study for 10 minutes a day now, so that when it gets closer to taking the test it won’t be so stressful for them.

Spelling Words
I am giving 19 words this week. Not only will they need to spell the word correctly, but they will need to use the correct word.  For the spelling test I will use it in a sentence.  So since we are focusing on the meaning of the words too, homework may look a little different this week.

Week of January 7

Happy New Year!  I hope everyone enjoyed time with their families over break.

This week students will be taking the mid module math test on Wednesday. It will be very similar to the study guide practice sheet that was sent home before break.

I will be starting to do DRA testing throughout the month. Also we are starting NWEA testing this week.  I am starting with the reading NWEA on Thursday.  Math will follow next week.  Then the students will be doing the language and science NWEA tests.   I know this is a lot but I plan on breaking it up for them so that they do not feel stressed.

The spelling words for this week are:
drum, dream, frying, frame, price, printing, train, track, trim, trap, liter, predict, weather, static, nature
