Science: We continued our ocean unit by learning about animals who live in the ocean. We are working on many crafts in order to turn our classroom into an ocean. The children are loving doing all of these crafts and learning facts about ocean animals. This week we also had the opportunity to look at shells, seahorses, puffer fish, and even a shark jaw which were leant to us by Mrs. Lahooti. We were so grateful to have time to look and touch all of these interesting shells and animals.

We made angler fish last week and learned about how they live in the midnight zone. This week we created a midnight zone photo booth to have some fun taking pictures in front of. This will still be up on June 1st when all of you are able to come in and see our ocean classroom and you can take pictures as a family!

We learned about how whales use echolocation. We did a simple experiment to demonstrate how sound can bounce off of objects in order for the children to better understand echolocation.

Social Studies: This week we began talking about democracy. We thought about how we are able to vote to make decisions. We thought about what we know about American symbols, such as the flag. We also talked about what we think the president’s job duties are and for what he is responsible. We will continue to discuss these topics next week.
