Dearborn High School Instrumental Music

Dearborn Public Schools

Letter from Mr. Walters

June 7, 2018

Parents of DHS Marching Band students,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the new Instrumental Music teacher at Dearborn High School . First up is marching band and marching band camp. I look forward to working with the students on the upcoming show, named simply, “Santana!”

I look forward to maintaining the wonderful traditions of the DHS Pioneer Marching Band. We will perform at each and every home game and go to the MSBOA festival on Monday, October 8, 2018.

A little about me; I grew up in Livonia, attending Bentley High School. I went to the University of Michigan school of music. I studied piano, voice, and french horn. I received my degree as an instrumental music teacher in 1985. I am a proud father of five amazingly accomplished adult children, four sons and a daughter. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, running, and writing music. I’ve run 20 marathons. I have composed three symphonic works performed by the Nashville Symphony and the Dearborn Symphony Orchestras. I have composed over 20 published songs for children and choirs. For the past twenty seven years I have taught in Dearborn Schools, most recently at Stout Middle School as the instrumental and vocal music teacher. I also taught in Vandercook Lake, Michigan and Muskegon, Michigan.

It is with great pride and a sense of privilege that I begin this incredible opportunity as the Dearborn High School instrumental music teacher. I look forward to meeting each of you and working with your exceptionally talented sons and daughters this year and for years to come.
