ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT NEWS AND NOTES
The girls varsity soccer team clinched an MHSAA District championship with a 2-1 win over Grosse Pointe North on Thursday, May 30th in a game played at Edsel Ford HS. Serena Faraj and Lila Mozham scored 2nd half goals for DHS. Congratulations to Coach Pfeil and the girls varsity soccer team!
The varsity softball team improved to 13-14 overall on the season with a 19-9 win at Annpolis on Wednesday, May 29th. DHS used a pair of 8 run innings to end the game after 5 innings due to the mercy rule. Congratulations to Coach Hamel and the varsity softball team!
The varsity baseball team improved to 9-19 overall with a 10-1 win at Annapolis on Wednesday, May 29th. Adnan Rammouni went 6 innings and struck out 12 batters to get the win on the mound while Adriano Murillo (3 run HR) and Aaron Garcia (2 hits) led the offense. Congratulations to Coach Jenks and the varsity baseball team!
The girls varsity soccer team moved on in the MHSAA District Tournament with a 8-0 win over Edsel Ford on Tuesday, May 30th. DHS advances to the district final on Thursday, May 28th back at Edsel Ford with a 6:00 PM start time.
The varsity baseball team is now 8-17 overall after a 8-2 win at Edsel Ford on Thursday, May 23rd. Ahamd Harajli got the win on the mound, striking out 10, while Adriano Murillo (2-3, 2B), Hassan Sabbagh (2B, 2 RBI), Mark Konchal (2B, 2 RBI), Ben Clark (2B), and Matt Stus (2-4, 2B, RBI) led the offense for DHS. Congratulations to Coach Jenks and the varsity baseball team!
The JV softball team finished up the season at 7-16 after an 11-9 home win over Edsel Ford on Thursday, May 23rd. Nour Elder, Sylvia Bartley, Mirvette Elsaghir, and Sydney Staton all played well for the Pioneers. Congratulations to Coach Roginski and the JV softball team!
The varsity softball team is now 12-14 overall after a 14-2 road win at Edsel Ford on Thursday, May 23rd. Aarin Krawczyk led the offense with 3 hits and Lily Grantham got the win on the mound for the Pioneers. Congratulations to Coach Hamel and the varsity softball team!
The JV baseball team walked off with a 6-5 home win over Edsel Ford on Thursday, May 23rd to finish up the season at 8-12-1. Zane Bazzy’s single scored Adam Rammouni with the winning run for the Pioneers. Congratulations to Coach Schmizzi and the JV baseball team!
The girls varsity soccer team opened up MHSAA District Tournament play with a 13-0 win over Detroit Cass Tech on Wednesday, May 22nd. The Pioneers advance to face Edsel Ford on Tuesday, May 28th at 5:00 PM in the district semi-finals. Congratulations to Coach Pfeil and the girls varsity soccer team!
At the MHSAA Regional on Friday, May 17th, Bryttan Barkoff broke the school record in the 300 hurdles with a time of 46.82 seconds. She placed second at the regional, earning at trip to the MHSAA D1 State Finals on June 1st at East Kentwood HS.
At the MHSAA Regional on Thursday, May 16th, the girls varsity tennis team earned 19 points to finish 2nd and earn their second consecutive trip to the MHSAA Division 1 State Finals in Midland May 31-June 1.
The varsity baseball team improved to 7-15 overall and 5-9 KLAA East with a 7-4 win at Livonia Franklin on Wednesday, May 15th. Ahmad Harajli got the win on the mound and Ben Clark (3-4) and Adriano Murillo (2-3, 2 doubles) led the offense for DHS. Congratulations to Coach Jenks and the varsity baseball team!
The boys golf team swept a tri-match at Willow Metropark on Wednesday, May 15th, defeating Fordson 181-225 and Belleville 181-230 to improve to 2-2 KLAA East. Paul Washington (39), Tommy Fawaz (46), Braeden Furlow (48), and Brecken Furlow (48) scored for the Pioneers. Congratulations to Coach Barkoff and the boys golf team!
The girls JV tennis team finished up the season at 9-1-0 after and 8-0 win at Ypsilanti Lincoln on Wednesday, May 15th. Casiana Miller/Batoul Saad had an 8-0 win at #1 doubles for the Pioneers. Congratulations to Coach Walters and the girls JV tennis team!
The girls varsity soccer team improved to 13-2-3 overall and 11-0-2 KLAA East with a 7-0 home win over Westland John Glenn on Tuesday, May 14th. Isabelle Karkaba (3), Serena Faraj, Yasmine Abadi, Grace Boettger, and Mia Sandoval scored for the Pioneers. Congratulations to Coach Pfeil and the girls varsity soccer team!
The girls JV soccer team is now 14-4-1 overall after a 9-1 home win over Westland John Glenn on Tuesday, May 14th. Sariah Abdou (3), Erin Moran (2), Dena Hammoud, Fatme Khalil, Ashley Irick, and Mya Hamood all netted goals for DHS. Congratulations to Coach Strutz and the girls JV soccer team!
The girls varsity tennis team improved to 8-1-2 overall with an 8-1 win over Riverview Gabriel Richard on Monday, May 13th. The doubles teams of Megan Hadley/Mariam Beydoun (#1, 6-1, 6-1) and Briana Drazek/Aya Siblani (#3, 6-1, 6-2) each posted quality wins for DHS. Congratulations to Coach Said and the girls varsity tennis team!
The girls JV tennis team improved to 8-1-0 overall with an 8-1 win over Riverview Gabriel Richard on Monday, May 13th. EFFECTIVE FOR 2019-20, THERE WILL BE NO ACTIVITY FEE CHARGED TO STUDENT-ATHLETES. THE WAYNE COUNTY ENHANCEMENT MILLAGE FUND WILL PICK UP THE COST OF PARTICIPATION.
THE DEARBORN PUBLIC SCHOOLS ARE NOW USING THE MHSAA PHYSICAL FORM. YOU MUST HAVE AN ATHLETIC PHYSICAL ON FILE TO PARTICIPATE IN HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS.

In addition to meeting all eligibility requirements from the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA), students in the Dearborn Public Schools are required to maintain a 2.000 Grade Point Average (GPA) to remain eligible to participate in athletics. High school grades are checked approximately every six weeks — eligibility is determined at these checkpoints. Information on MHSAA eligibility requirements can be found at www.mhsaa.com.
