September 12-Parent Curriculum Meeting at 5:30. I will share the curriculum for the year and discuss all the exciting events coming up for your students.

I hope everyone had a wonderful long Labor Day weekend. The students do not have any homework tonight due to NWEA math testing & the Back to School Picnic. We will test math again tomorrow. NWEA reading will be on Thursday & Friday.
Our first week is done! All went well. We have a wonderful group of kids in Room 10!
The students have all logged into Zearn to help support their math learning. Since we have completed lessons 1 & 2, I have asked the students to complete lessons 1 & 2 on Zearn. The students had time to work on these lessons today at school, but some did not complete both lessons. Please have them complete it this weekend.
The students will need a pair of earbuds to use while on the computer to listen to directions, view videos, & instruction. You can get them at a Dollar store if you don’t have any.
Also, please send in an old mismatched sock to use on their whiteboards as an eraser.

The students have their first homework tonight! It is in math on place value. This assignment shouldn’t take them too long, 10-15 minutes. Our class will have homework Mondays-Thursdays most weeks. I will try not to give homework on the weekends as I want this time set aside for family time since I will be doing the same. On occasion, they will need to study for a quiz/test on the weekends but not often.
We had a great 1st day! Thank you for sharing your child with me this year. I look forward to meeting all of you at the Back to School Picnic on September 3rd or at Open House on September 12th. Please check out our new lunch menu. There are 3 choices this year! I will send home more information about our school day this week.
The Dearborn Public Schools has added a new feature to ParentConnect that allows parents to directly enter their child’s Emergency Information before the start of the school year instead of paper forms. Please log onto ParentConnect from a computer. You will not be able to update your information on a cell phone or i-pad. If you don’t have your login information, click on the “Need Your Login Information?” text found on the Parent Connect page. Once logged in click on the “Back to School Registration and Emergency Form Update,” found at the top of the page to the left of My Account. Please update the emergency information, which can be done by clicking Review/Update Info on the right. Once there, you’ll have the ability to update your information as well as your child’s information. Please make sure to follow the directions at the top of each page. The “Back to School Registration and Emergency Form” Update will show until August 25, 2019; after that date, online re-enrollment will close, and paper emergency forms will be printed to parents who did not complete the information online.
