Open house is tonight from 6-7:30 pm! Please be advised that each grade level has their own Open House schedule to follow.

The sixth grade Open House schedule is as follows:

6:00 – 6:15        Block 1

6:19 – 6:34         Block 2

6:38 – 6:43         Block 3

6:47 – 7:02         Open Block

7:10 – 7:18        “A” Day Elective

7:22 – 7:30         “B” Day Elective

Your student should have filled out a paper with their personal schedule in their first block today. If they do not have one to give you, they should have their schedule taped into their planner so you can take a photo of it and bring that with you!  We are trying to be equitable with the times and room numbers. The “Open Block” is for visiting either Mr. Peterson or Mrs. Jones because they split their science and social studies days.

See you tonight!

We had quite a busy day today!  We started out with a 6th grade welcome assembly where we were acclimated with school-wide policies and expectations. We then went to all 3 blocks in the morning where we signed up for the technology we are going to use in each classroom. For my class we signed up for my Google Classroom, Read Theory, and were assigned our first round of MobyMax minutes. To get the students used to MobyMax homework, they will be given time in class to complete SOME of their 60 minutes that are due Friday.

In the afternoon we went outside and played various team-building activities so we could get to know our classmates better and how to best communicate and collaborate to complete tasks efficiently.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Welcome to my blog! Please take a minute to subscribe by entering your email in the box on the top right to stay updated daily!

Today we practiced more with our lockers and went over our class syllabus & summer reading requirements. The first week of school is information overload so it would be great if you could go over the Welcome Letter and Class Information packet I sent home today as a family! Over the course of the year information may be added or changed but it’s a great overview of what to expect in terms of my policies and expectations!

Tomorrow we will continue getting to know each other a little better but today was a great first full day!

Have a great evening!

Homework

*All grades will be updated by Friday at 3:00pm – I just finished ISN checks today for their Giver pages (100 points – formative). Students were given weeks of Daily 5 time (and an entire “catch up” day) to get caught up with their ISN work and unfortunately many of them chose to grab a computer or read a book instead and lost major points. Due to the amount of extra time they were given to get this work done, there will not be any regrading opportunities for work that was missing.

Today we took the Chapter 9-15 Quiz and then read chapters 17 & 18 of The Giver. Chapters 8-15 questions were due today, they are already graded but I will need to weekend to update my online gradebook. Due to the fact that students were given a “catch up day” yesterday where they essentially had an hours worth of Daily 5 time to finish these questions (and days/weeks prior to this), I will not regrade unfinished questions for a higher grade.

Reading logs are due tomorrow!  Students will need access to books in the next week (and throughout the summer!). They may borrow my books until next Friday for their final reading log but I encourage you to go to the library to get your student more books!

Have a wonderful evening!

Homework

  • Read 20 minutes and respond on reading log (4 responses are due by Friday)
  • Read chapters 17-18 (2nd and 4th periods need to finish chapter 18) of The Giver
