ELA~

Writing~ Cont. Informational writing-Topic: Problems and solutions when sleeping in space.

Reading~ Part 2- Wonder.  Monthly Book project & reading logs continue to work on.

Math~

5th-Cont. fraction & story problems

4th~ Multiplication with multi-digit numbers.

Social Studies~

Travel Brochures both grades due date- 1/24/18. TBD of when families will be invited for student presentations for this!!! More info coming home soon….

5th S. S. assessment 1/26/18.

Science~

Cont. both grades with their units. Quiz next week. Date TBD.

FIFTH GRADE PARENTS!!

Please read below from a 5th grade parent.

Hello 5th Grade Parents,

I wanted to send home a quick note to request digital pictures for our 5th grade slideshow. We have a video presentation during our Promotion Ceremony at the end of the school year.  We are looking for pictures of your child with friends or alone during their time from K-5th grade. We are only asking for pictures that are during school activities (such as school days, Holiday parties, field trips, playing at recess, Concerts, etc.)  If your child attended another school during the earlier years, please include some of those pictures as well–I have set up an email address you can send the pictures to. Please include your child’s name in the memo, that would be very helpful! The email address is:

Tomorrow students will be taking the NWEA reading assessment.

We will be starting the assessment at 9:00 a.m. Please make sure your child has plenty of sleep, a hearty breakfast and arrives to school on time. Thank you.

Also, please check the inside of your child’s planner, I had the students tape in a table with their Fall NWEA & DRA scores. We will continue to write in this table, as we take these assessments.

For your future planning here are the NWEA dates:

1/17/18- Math

1/18/18- Language

1/23/18- Science

Happy New Year!!!

I can not believe how fast the winter break has gone by! I hope all of you spent quality time with your families & were able to have some down time.

Here’s what’s happening this week…

Math~ Both grades will begin the week with a pre-test for the next unit.

Social Studies~ Both grades will continue working on their travel brochures.

Science~ We will continue with experiments this week. We will be wrapping up both units during these next couple weeks.

ELA~ Wonder Literature Unit will be completing during these next couple weeks.
Writing~Students will begin Informational Writing. It will be linked to Science and/or Social Studies.

I will be sending home new reading logs with a home component this week. Look for the note in your child’s folder.

Spelling~ New words, activities and projects this week!

NWEA testing begins this week. Our first assessment will be on 1/11/18 Reading. Please make sure your child is arrives to school that day on time, gets plenty of rest and has a hearty breakfast. We will begin the test at 9:00 a.m.

NO SCHOOL Monday, January 15, 2018.

Late Start- January 17, 2018.

1/2 day 11:45 a.m. dismissal on Friday, January 26, 2018.

Good Evening Families~

I wanted to share some photos from today’s Native American Experience today! The students had an excellent time and learned so much more about the Native Americans. The speaker was highly impressed at how interactive, knowledgeable, and well mannered the students are.  Please be sure to ask your child about today.

Illness

Good evening families-

Just wanted to share that many students were out sick today. I scoured the tables and any other surface, that I felt kids would touch.
I reminded the students to wash their hands more often as well.

I hope those out sick will be back to school soon and everyone else doesn’t get it. There were many students in class today with colds too. 😔

Good morning!

Happy last week of school in 2017!

Looking forward to a fun-filled week!

Science~ Both grades will have a vocabulary quiz on Wed. 12-20-17.

Math~ 5th will have Unit 5- Assessment tomorrow, Tues. 12-19-17

Social Studies~ Both grades will continue to work on their travel brochures.

ELA~ NO SPELLING THIS WEEK!!! MY GIFT TO THE STUDENTS & PARENTS..:)

Writing~ Fun activity this week! Book character ugly sweater writing and decorating.

Book Clubs~ Cont. Wonder.

I plan on returning many grades this week, so be sure to look out for this in your child’s folder: Math assessments, cereal box project grade, social studies assessments, & science vocab quiz!
