Students of all grades and abilities may participate and explore the arts based on the 2018-2019 theme:

“Heroes Around Me”

Students may choose one or all of the available arts categories:

Dance Choreography
Visual Arts
Photography
Film Production
Literature
Music Composition

Entry forms and guidelines were sent home with students, and are also available in the school office, from teachers, or from Amanda LeFranc (Amanda.LeFranc@gmail.com).

This year’s theme is “Saturday Night Live”!

Saturday, November 3rd, 6 PM, Lindbergh parking lot

While not an official PTA-event, this has been a fun annual event for Lindbergh parents, teachers, and friends for some years (adults only!).  Teams will participate in tasks or activities at each stop in order to receive clues to the next location. Start planning your costume now! Please mention team name as soon as you can. Please label an envelope with “Road Rally” and put your team name, members, and $10 per member inside. Place the envelope in the mailbox of 140 South Martha, the PTA mailbox, or you can hand it to Emily Blumenstein, Sonia Goff, or Erin Andrews. Teams can include as many members as legally allowed for the vehicle.
Please have all envelopes turned in by Monday, October 29th.

Good evening families~
We are headed to the end of our first marking period. Much of this week will be finishing things up!

ELA~

Auggie & Me continue questions and discussion. I will be introducing QAR

(Question Answer Relationship) this will help students answer more specifically and to justify their answers.

Spelling~ THERE WILL BE NO SPELLING THIS WEEK!!!

Writing~ Introduction of Opinion Writing last week.  Students will review the non-negotiable’s of what goes in an Opinion writing piece.

5th ONLY~ Readworks.org assignment due- 11/5/18

Math~

4th~ Module #1- Lesson 15-17

5th~ Module #2- Lesson 3-5

Science~

4th~ Academic Vocab  quiz 11/2/18

Students will be taking home-their vocab definitions to study this week.

7 Habits- Leader in Me

Students will focus on Habit 2- Begin with the End in Mind. We will look at this habit more closely, reflecting if we reached our first card marking goals. We will also write new goals.

Leader In Me~
Ask your child what Proactive Language they chose as a table group to use, as daily reminders?  We discussed things in life that are part of our Circle of Control and those daily things that are out of our control.  The students were very engaged and we had a great discussion!

Good evening families~

Here is this week at a glance~
ELA~

Spelling- Week 7.

Writing~ We successfully completed our personal narratives.   We will begin Opinion writing this week!

Reading~ Continue working in literature discussion groups with Auggie & Me. The students are doing an amazing job with working together and discussing their book questions.

Science~ Both grades will continue working with Mystery Science. Both grades will have academic vocab quizzes next week.

Social Studies~ 4th- I had to postpone the government unit assessment due to absences last week. My goal is to complete it this week!

5th~  Continue Three Worlds Meet. This week, our focus will be Africa and Columbian Exchange.

Math~ 4th will continue addition and subtraction with larger numbers.

5th~ Module 2- Parent Tip sheet will be sent home. Students focus is Multi-Digit Whole Number and Decimal Fraction Operations.
