Dear families~

I hope this finds everyone well. Here is this upcoming week at a glance.

ELA~

Reading- We voted and our next book study will be Fish in a Tree by Lynda Mullaly Hunt. I plan on purchasing a class set this week. We will begin this book the week of 1/21.

Book of the month-Board Game due Feb. 4th.

Writing~ Focus- Non-fiction writing.

Spelling~ Week 14.

Math~
NWEA Wednesday- 1/16.

4th- WIll begin Topic E- Read attached doc.

g4-m3-E vfinal newsletter

5th- Will continue Topic B. Read attached doc.

Expect a mid-module assessment the week of 1/21!

G5-M3-B final

Social Studies~

4th- Human Geography Assessment- Wednesday, 1/16/19.

5th- Life in the Colonies- Tentative assessment Friday the 18th.

Both grades are continuing work on their travel brochures. The assignment is posted in Google Classroom.

Science~
Both grades-Academic quiz- Friday the 18th.

Leader in Me- 7 Habits.

All family snowflakes should be turned in by this week!

Habit 3- Put first things First.

As we begin the New Year, we are reflecting and creating new goals for 2019. Here are some things the students and I will discuss.

Future skills that can be learned by putting first things first:
1 Demonstrate time management skills
2 Cultivate a strong work ethic, flexibility and adaptability
4 Be accountable and responsible for actions and results

Kids Heart Challenge continue to collect for this.

Community Service Projects-Continue to collect pop tabs, and donations to the animal shelter.

1/15- Native American Museum in school field experience.

1/16- NWEA math.

1/17- Mrs. Currie absent for professional development.

1/18- Mrs. Currie absent for professional development.

1/18- 1/2 day students 11:45 a.m. dismissal.

1/21-NO SCHOOL MLK day.

1/22-AM students- 11:45 dismissal- Teachers Professional development PM.
