Thursday, April 23rd

Things seem to be moving along well.  It is so good to hear from you!

The live class meeting is the BEST place to get ask your questions.  We can walk through steps and have immediate feedback.  PLEASE pop into those meetings whenever you have questions!

Remember, you MUST check in with EACH of your teachers each week.  Mr. Martin asks that it be on Monday and Tuesday.  If you can’t make Monday or Tuesday class meetings, I’m ok if you check in on Wed or Thurs.

Class Meetings:  M,T,W,TH   1-3pm     I will send link through remind each day.

**Don’t forget to type “present” in the chat during class meetings.  That’s how I have to take attendance!  If you come in but don’t type anything there may NOT be a record of your attendance!**

Wednesday, April 22nd

Happy Earth Day!  I’m so glad to hear the reports of our world rebounding from human abuse.  Fish and dolphins in the Venice canals, clean air over China, wildlife moving back in to US National Parks!  Amazing how the world can heal itself without human interference.

Today’s class meeting went well.  I’m so glad that you can pop in and ask your questions!  It’s so much easier than all the email.

***Remind is NOT the best way to get ahold of me***I don’t always get the REMIND messages.  The LIVE Google Class Meeting or email is best!

Remember, Friday is the deadline for this week’s assignments.

1.  Project: proposal and outline

2.  Week 1 simulation/worksheet/assessment

Check out complete details in the previous days comments.   Stay Safe! Stay Well!

Tuesday, April 21st

Today’s class meeting was different!  We walked through joining the Explore Learning (Gizmo) simulations site.  We talked about how and where to type in your answers to the worksheet.

We discussed how the new cardmarkings will be based on participation and online assignments.

It was great to see and hear from you all!  I love the class meeting to keep in touch and answer questions!  So much easier to understand each other than through email!

I’ll be back 1-3pm tomorrow and Thursday.  Watch for my remind text message with the meeting code and link.

Stay safe and well!

Monday, April 20th

Today’s Class meetings went well.

Some clarifications:   I will be online in a class meet 1-3pm Mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs Each of those days, I will be sending out a link through remind.  (If you need to sign up for remind, the directions are on IBlog and ILearn)

Students need only check in at that meeting once per week.  When you come to the meeting, simply type “Present” in the chat and you have just made 1 check in for that week.  This is the time for you to ask any and all questions that you have regarding our assignments and project.

The second check in you need to do is the online assignments.

email is still the preferred communication IF YOU have SPECIFIC requests…like double check an assignment, etc.

Directions are in the Week 1 section of ILearn.

2.  Capstone Project – 4 parts:

proposal, outline  Due Friday, April 24, 10am

rough draft, final draft    Due Friday,  May 1, 10am.

**IF you have already submitted all 4 parts to your Capstone project,  you do NOT need to resubmit.***

Saturday, April 18th

MANY students have asked already, “Since the project was due before Monday does that mean it doesn’t count?”

The answer, friends is…OF COURSE IT DOES!   Just as promised when the project was assigned, it will be REASSIGNED when the new mandate came through.

SO….I am reassigning the project!  To those who are done with the project, you just have to do the NEW assignments.

Students who never bothered or were unable to finish, have til May 1st to submit all 4 parts.  PLUS the NEW assignments.

Aren’t you glad you did the project when you had more time?

Monday, April 13th

Welcome back!

Spring break,  ahhhhhh….I feel all relaxed and ready to get started.    BUT WAIT!

The Dearborn Public School District is still finalizing the plan that Gov Whitmer asked all districts to create.  When it is finalized, they will let the principals know, who will let the teachers know, who will let the students know….so again we wait.

MEANWHILE…we are still instructed to do our enrichment activities.  So, keep on with your projects!  Submit them as a pdf document as instructed.  Don’t break your brains with this project!  Use the internet, your textbook and other sources to guide you through the molecular structures and IMFs.  Be creative, have fun and learn some new stuff about our world!

After the projects have been completed, we will have new online opportunities.  Virtual field trips, instructional videos and simulation activities…so stay tuned!

***DHS has asked us to send out a survey to our 3rd hour students*** Please check your school email for a survey from your 3rd hour teacher!

Stay Safe, Stay Well.
