Kinda of a cool date huh?

Dear Students,

I know the last several weeks have not been easy for you.  These are unprecedented times and we are all finding new ways to cope with the new and unusual ways of finishing off the semester.  Your parents have shared a great deal of the burden and I want to personally thank them for supporting you and me at this difficult time.

Your will continue to learn remotely until the end of the school year.  I intend to move forward with the curriculum as I expect you to continue putting forth your best effort into learning. Here are my expectations:

1.  We will be meeting twice a week to discuss new material and answer any questions you may have via google meet. Attendance to google meet is mandatory.   You will get an invite but just so you know, it will be every Tuesday and Thursday.

2.  In addition, you can expect to receive instructions / assignments by means of google classroom, iBlog, iLearn, Remind and email. You should expect assignments that will take 1 hour per day to complete.  Due dates are important and will be followed.

3.  Grades do count and will be entered on a regular basis.   Furthermore, if the you are not participating, your teacher (that’s me!) and then the principal will be calling home to touch base and discuss a plan to motivate and encourage you.

4.  Work that was completed over the last month will be marked graded and any missed work must be made up.

I plan to be available to you by email any time. I will respond to messages within 24 hours and until 4pm each day.  I will hold “office hours” on Wednesday from 10:00 am to 3:00.  I can be reached via email at craigv@dearbornschools.org, or, better yet, on Remind.

I look forward to continuing to work with you!

Assignments, Google Classroom and Stay Safe!

Hello Medical Assisting class! I am sure that you were as surprised as I was when we got the announcement  that schools would be closed for three weeks!  I do think it was the right decision to slow the spread of the corona virus and I hope you’ll do everything you can to avoid crowds during this time and follow the good practices of hand-washing and covering your cough and not touching your face.  Since our spring break follows the three-week school closure, I do not expect to see you until April 13.   I know it is important to all of you that we have the opportunity to compete the required content for Medical Assisting so that you have the best chance possible to earn certification.  Since we will only have 6 weeks left for seniors after we return from this time off (and three weeks after that for the rest of you), it is imperative that we complete some work while we are off.  We also need to do this because the school district has asked us to do so!  In addition, they have asked us to contact parents when students do not complete assignments by the due dates.  Please be responsible and complete the assignments I send by their due dates!  Remember, I don’t accept late formative work. I will be setting up a Google Classroom to get things done.  I am new at this so be patient.  Please check REMIND for your code. Also, anyone that shares their work with another will automatically get a zero.   Assignment #1 – due Wednesday, March 18 at 7:00am –

On March 27th we will have a real live pharmacy student come in to talk with you regarding a day in the life of…  It will happen 2nd hour.  Please see me if you are not in this class and you are interested in attending.

Also, there is an opportunity for  working parents to attend an evening Parent Talk Class with Margaret King-Ahmed.
