Unit 2 Study Guide

6th grade Unit 3
6th graders are wrapping up the SLOT unit on Dividing Fractions and will be taking a Unit Assessment on 2/1/17.
The students will also be finishing up Unit 3 (expressions & equations) on 2/10/17 with a Unit Assessment.
We will begin soon practicing for the M-STEP.

Welcome Back students and parents! I hope you all have enjoyed and are well-rested from the holiday recess! I wanted to make mention that students should have been working on 1 hour of Khan Academy and a 6th/7th/8th grade Holiday packet. The students are getting ready for NWEA testing, in which, the students needs to be ready to show all the growth from September.
Again, I’m glad we are back and Hope you and your family have a happy new year 2017!!!!!

Wayne County Regional Enhancement Education Millage Proposal
School districts in Wayne County have placed a proposal on the November 8th ballot to provide added funding for our schools. It is the “Regional Enhancement Millage Proposal.”
If approved by the entire county, the 2 mil proposal will generate approximately $6.2 million from Dearborn but the District will receive $7.8 million in additional funding for our schools. Money would go to local schools starting this year and the millage expires after six years. Continue reading
Week 4 – Week 9 (9/26 – 10 /28)
Parents and Students,
Thank you for you cooperation as I update our school blog.
Week 4-9 (9/26 – 10/28) :
6th grade:
Continued finding area of complex figures with and without dots
Students then reviewed on how to graph coordinate points on a coordinate plane. They became human points and had to plot themselves. The students also learned a dance to remember how to graph the x coordinate first and then the y coordinate second.
Students also learned how to find the distance between two points by counting the “bunny hops” and plotting coordinated and connecting them to create a polygon.
Students will take Unit 1 Assessment on Friday 10/28 and Monday 10/31. Please encourage your students to study for the District assessment.
7th grade:
Continued to work on integer operation by creating PowerPoint presentations, activities that involved technology and practicing for the District assessment.
8th grade:
Students continued to work with Rational and Irrational numbers. Students took the Unit 1 assessment in their math class.
Students are now working on identifying if graphs, ordered pairs, and mapping diagrams are functions or non-functions.
A great showing for parent/teacher conferences!!! Thank you to all parents and students for showing up!!!
Please remember to have student’s practice their Khan Academy RIT score at home for 10 minutes a night!!!
