Hi everyone,

Just to keep everyone up-to-date, the lesson plans for this week will remain similar to the lesson plans I posted last week (please see my post, “remote learning lesson plans”) for further directions. As a quick outline, please use the following guide:

ELA:

  • Raz-kids for leveled books
  • Reading Eggs for foundational skills/phonics
  • Close-reading passages (posted on blog last week)

Math:

  • Zearn for curriculum pacing (Eureka math lessons)
  • Math Seeds for foundational skills
  • ixlgames.com (TONS of fun games)
  • Succeed math book

Writing:

  • Follow blueprint guidelines
  • This week’s topic is a narrative piece: Write about your favorite family vacation. Give me lots of details!
  • Feel free to take a picture of your child’s writing at the end of the week and send it to me via ClassDojo and I will provide feedback 🙂

Science:

  • Mystery Science – continue working through the mysteries
I posed last week on my remote learning plans (1 or 2 a week is fine)

Social Studies:

  • The first grade teams are still working on finding online resources to help support our next unit on maps. There’s not a whole lot as of now, but we ask that you use basic maps you can google online and explain why we use maps, how to read maps, explain a compass rose (directions) and reading map keys.

Additionally, I have a bunch of additional websites and paper/pencil activities that you can print off if you are looking for additional resources. You can find these websites on my blog under the “educational sites” tab or on my remote lesson plan document. If you need any help finding these resources, please comment on this post or message me on dojo.

Also, there are great online virtual field trips that I find incredible. I know they are available because of these very unfortunate circumstances, but they really are great and I think the kids would love them! They’re fun for the whole family!

I am here for you. I’m available during regular schools hours (8:30-3:30) if you need anything at all. I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy and doing okay. Please tell the kids I miss them and I can’t wait to see them!

Ms. Otto
