Homework Reminder

Tomorrow all students need to turn in their Literary Letters, Exit Tickets AND the CER assignment from Friday.
The Literary Letters and Exit Tickets were assigned at the start of the card-marking and could have been turned in at any time.
If a student does not turn in these assignments, on time, this will have a negative effect on their grade for the 5th card-marking.
Let me know if you have any questions.

US and Them/I Escaped a Violent Gang Quiz and Vocabulary

Students will be taking a quiz tomorrow on the stories titled above. This quiz was originally scheduled for today and students have been aware of it since Monday, April 17th.

All students will take the quiz if they are in school on Tuesday.

Absences due to vacation, illness, or school related events will be considered, but DO NOT automatically excuse a student from the obligations of classwork and quizzes.
I was not here on Friday and some students took that to mean they didn’t have to do anything the substitute teacher assigned to them. This is also not a valid reason or excuse from the quiz.

All students were given class time today to get done what they could and told they would need to work at home tonight to continue to prepare for the quiz.

Below is the list of required vocabulary for the quiz (in case your student did not write it down):

merit
imply
inflict
interfere
indiscriminately
provoke
initiation
impact (v)
perspective
betray

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Quiz Monday will be Rescheduled

Our planned quiz for tomorrow, April 24, will be rescheduled for later this week. Please continue to review the information from both stories (I Escaped a Violent Gang and Us and Them) as this will be your final quiz for this card-marking. I will give you the new date tomorrow.

Have a great day!

Flowers for Algernon Final Test and Packet

This is just a reminder that today was our final quiz and Monday, March 27th the packet is due. Even if a student has been out of school (illness and or school related), they are still obligated to adhere to these deadlines*.
Any student who was absent for today’s test should be prepared to take it on Monday.

Let me know if you have any questions.

*I will make exceptions on an individual basis.

Flowers for Algernon Calendar and Packet

On Monday, all students received the attached 3 week calendar to show work expected from them during our unit on Flowers for Algernon.
We discussed both the calendar due dates and the work that goes with it.

Students will need to have their textbook home for this reading (all done outside of class), as it is NOT available in the online textbook.

This calendar also allows for all students who are absent to keep up with the work.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Have a great weekend!
