Today some students did chapter 1 retake and students who were not retaking worked on stations activity to review sections 2.1-2.4 to review for tomorrow’s quiz. Here are the problems from today’s station as well as a a detailed key.

I can statements Quiz 2.1-2.4
I can statements Chapter 2: sections 2.1-2.4
- I can find the degree of a polynomial and its leading coefficient (Desmos activity)
- I can find the x intercepts and a FACTOR of a polynomial given its graph (p205#25-26)
- I can factor out a cubic polynomial using GCF then X method then find its roots ALGEBRAICALLY (p194#49-52)
- I can describe and write the end behavior of a polynomial function in easy wording (up/down) as well as LIMIT NOTATION p25-28
- I can find the vertex of a quadratic function from a vertex form (h,k) or from standard for (h=-b/2a) then write it in vertex form p169#27-32
- I can find the Zeros of a polynomial functions including cubic and quartic if given a factor (synthetic division then x method)
- I can find the multiplicity of the zeros of the polynomial function and identify the behavior if the function at those zeros (graph bounces even multiplicity or goes through the x intercept odd multiplicity ) p193#39-42
- I can find the equation of a linear function (line) given 2 points in function notation (page 169 #7 through 12)
- I can write the equation of a parabola given its graph and one point or given the vertex and one point (p169# 39-44)
- I can divide polynomials using synthetic division and write the answer as POLYNOMIAL FORM or FRACTION FORM p205#7-12
- I can write the equation of a cubic function (in factored form and standard form) using a given graph (bellwork Wednesday 11/20)
- I can find the remainder using remainder theorem (p205#13-18)
- I can test if a given divisor is a factor of the polynomial using the factor theorem (p205#19-24)
Thanksgiving break homework
You will be working on the following SAT practice test. For full credit, you need to show annotations and your work.
Friday 11/22
2.4 Homework Corrections: students went up on the board and showed their work for p205#7-12,13-18, 19-24
Thursday 11/21
Wednesday 11/20
Tuesday 11/19
Monday 11/18
Students worked on Desmos activity to explore polynomials end behavior. Here is a summary of the results.
2.1 Homework key
Most of those problems were discussed in class and students went up on the board and showed their work for at least 2 problems of each set. Those are all the answers. One set (39-44) will be discussed Monday.
Friday 11/15
Today students worked in groups and used the white board to solve real world problems using polynomial functions.
The strategy was to first read and annotate, then come up with the visual, after visual was approved students came up with the equation then solution.
