Tuesday News

Good Afternoon Parents!

Your child should be coming home with their reading bag today.  Inside, there is a Reading Log for them to fill out each day and get your initials on. If you saw my prior post, you saw that the reading bag reading should take about 30 minutes each night. Also, they all have a Reading Response Journal.  After they read, they will have a writing task to complete.  Thank you in advance for making sure your child is attending to their reading homework.  I will work hard to make sure they bring home their planner, homework folder and reading bag.  ALL of these things need to come back to school each day.

In addition to their reading bag reading and writing, spelling activities need to be completed by Friday.  Some children have cursive to complete and return.

Tomorrow we have Art.

Enjoy your evening!

Monday News

Good Afternoon!

Today your child will be coming home with their first math test of the year…please review it with them and if you would like them to keep the test in their Leadership Binder, you may sign it and have them return it to school.  They have already graphed their spelling test results.

Homework: Begin new spelling activities and read 20-30 minutes.  More children received a reading bag today and with it a reading log.  Make sure they are logging what they are reading and initial.  If they forgot theirs, like many did, please ask them to remember each and everyday!  This is mandated by the district and our principal Mrs. Alcodray.

Tomorrow we have Music.

Have a great night!

Happy Sunday!

Good Afternoon!  I hope everyone is enjoying this fabulous weekend!  Tomorrow we have Gym, so gym shoes are a must!  Also, library books need to come back to school.  Your child will be able to pick two new ones on Monday (one fiction, one non-fiction) to be returned next Monday.

Spelling words are as follows:

2nd grade: rip, ripe, fin, fine, bike, give, like, live, kind, find.

3rd grade: each, met, meet, tell, rest, motion, location, first, next, finally.

Now that it is October, lets talk about Halloween!

Because of the allergies we have in our classroom, a specialized selection of  Halloween treats has been posted outside my classroom door.  Please feel free to sign up for a treat if you would like to send one in for your child to share.  (please note, anything other than those listed cannot be shared during our Halloween party)

Also, your child is invited to wear a Halloween costume to school on October 31st.  (No weapons, masks or face paint is allowed)  If your child does NOT want to wear a costume, that is perfectly acceptable.  They will still participate in the party and will get a share of the treats.

Parent-Teacher Conferences are not until Mid-November, but if you did not get a chance to sign up for a conference during Open House, please feel free to stop in before or after school to find one that suits you.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
