Good Afternoon! Your child will be coming home with a permission slip to the first field trip of the year. Both 2nd and 3rd graders are going on this trip to Wiard’s Orchard on October 3rd. Please complete and send back to school as soon as possible.

Thank you to those who completed and returned our survey. We need to keep our free breakfast and lunch program and you completing the survey will help us do that. If you haven’t returned yours yet, please do so as soon as you can.

Homework tonight is to begin spelling activities.

Our words focus on the short /i/ and the long /i/ sounds:

bit, stick, will, ice, win.

Our content words are: chart, solve, genre, Dearborn, friction.

As you probably saw in my earlier blog, our reading NWEA test begins tomorrow. We will also have Gym, so don’t forget gym shoes!

Enjoy the evening!

A message from our Principal!

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Dearborn Public Schools will be participating in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) as part of the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs for the School Year 2019-2020. All students enrolled at our school can receive a healthy breakfast and lunch and NO CHARGE.

We will still need your household to FILL OUT AND SIGN THE HOUSEHOLD INFORMATION FORM. This is CRITICAL in determining the amount of money our our school receives from State and Federal supplemental programs. All information submitted on the forms is confidential. Forms will be coming home this week.

Thank you in advance for your participation in the matter.

Have a great day.

Amal Alcodray, Principal

Thank you,

Tuesday News

Good Afternoon Parents!

We are starting Spelling Activities this week. Your child is bringing home their Spelling Tic Tac Toe sheet. They need to complete 3 activities across, down or diagonally and attach it to the tic tac toe sheet. Please make sure you initial each one as they complete it. It will be due Friday.

The second graders aced the second grade words, so they are working on the more challenging third grade words. The pattern is short /a/ and long /a/. The last 5 are content words from our other subjects.

The words are:

lane, ate, trap, tape, can, fiction, number, count, force, Michigan.

Tomorrow we will have Art and Media Enrichment.

Have a great evening!

Happy Thursday!

We had a great first week of school! We are starting slow with procedures and routines and will start slowly next week with the academic areas. I am still learning about your child in order to individualize for the school year.

Your child will be bringing home our “specials schedule”. Please look it over and make sure they wear their gym shoes on Tuesday.

Have a great vacation to those of you traveling, and have a great staycation for those just relaxing! See you next week!
