Good afternoon parents!

This week starts M-Step.  We will be testing on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week.  We will NOT be starting the ABC Countdown until testing is over.  We don’t want the children to be distracted.  Stay tuned…I will let you know when we will be starting and your child will come home with an ABC Countdown schedule.

Spelling words this week focus on words with the /-ight/ chunk:

light, might, bright, delight, slight.

The content words are:

reading, comprehension, solve, iron, earth.

Tomorrow we will have Library check-out, make sure your child brings in their library books.  We will also have Art and Math Enrichment.

Homework: Read 20-30 minutes each night over the weekend.  Please return all unwanted pictures or send in money for the pictures as soon as possible.

We will have our last NWEA of the school year tomorrow (Math).  Please make sure your child gets plenty of rest and has a good breakfast!  We will also have Gym.  Gym shoes are a must!

Tomorrow is the last day to donate to our 3rd grade “Picnic Basket”.  Thank you to the parents who already donated.  If you have something for our basket, please send it in tomorrow. The theme is “VACATION FUN”.

Tomorrow we will check out books, make sure your child brings their library books back to school.  We will also have Art and Math Enrichment.

We will not be starting the 3rd grade M-Step until the week of May 8th! (Fourth grade will start theirs this week).  We do, however, have one more NWEA test to take this week.  It will be the Math portion and we will not do that until Thursday.  Please make sure to emphasize the importance of the test and the need for your child to take their time!  Some students are rushing and scoring badly.

This week’s spelling words focus on the /’s/ showing possession:

family’s, brother’s, doctor’s, kitten’s, grandmother’s.

The content words are:

singular, possessive, money, lumber, resources.

Please make sure your child is reading at least 30 minutes each night over the weekend. It’s also important that they practice their multiplication facts each and every night.  If you have not already done so, please review your child’s Unit 8 Math Test and sign it.  Your child needs to bring it in on Monday.

Spelling activities are due tomorrow.  Make sure your child studies for their spelling and multiplication tests.  Homelink 9.2 needs to be completed and returned.  Also, please review, sign and return the Unit 8 math test.  Some children did not achieve a passing score, so they need to do corrections, attach and return their test.
