Greetings! I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful weekend!
This week we begin NWEA testing. This first round of tests is just a benchmark for your child, so no worries! The Second Graders will take 2 tests and the Third Graders have 4! (insert sad face here…) Other than the number of tests, second graders get the reading test read to them. The third graders have to READ the test to themselves. Its a big jump from second to third, but the children adapt quickly!
We have Gym tomorrow. Please make sure your child wears their gym shoes. I will not allow them to call home for a change of shoes (sorry!)
The second grade spelling words they will be responsible for this week are:
sat, will, bad, six, wag, his, can, big, has, him.
The third grade spelling words they will be responsible for this week are:
lane, ate, trap, tape, can, fiction, number, count, force, Michigan.
Your child will be bringing home a Tic-Tac-Toe activity sheet to help them practice their spelling words. The activities will be due on Friday of each week. Spelling tests will be on Friday as well.

Today your child will be coming home with an emergency card for you to check over. If there are any errors, cross them out and write the correct information. The office will update the cards. It is important that you check, sign and return these emergency cards as soon as possible (Monday would be great!)

I am really happy to have your child in my classroom! We are going to have a great school year!
Your child should be bringing home a planner and a homework folder today. Please make sure that you check both of these, sign their planner and have your child bring it back everyday! Your child will receive a blue pack pride ticket for the signed planner and be eligible for a prize in our Friday drawing.
Tomorrow we will have Art. For homework, if they did not finish their Rising Star Poster in class, they will complete it at home and return it tomorrow. Also, reading 20-30 minutes tonight is on the agenda. (If your child does not have any books to read at home, let me know and I will quickly make them up a book bag.)

I had a wonderful year with your kids and I hope they have enjoyed Third Grade with me as their teacher! Thank you for all of your support throughout the year and I hope to see some of you around Dearborn over the summer!
