Our Week 28 spelling words will focus on endings…changing /y/ to /ier/.  The words are as follows:

lazier, merrier, jumpier, emptier, funnier.

The Content words are:

fraction, equivalent, division, improper, compare.

Make sure your child completes the Home Energy Worksheet at the back of the Think! Energy Student Guide and bring it back completed tomorrow.  We will get a classroom mini-grant from DTE Energy if all students return their completed Worksheet!

Thank you for your continued support!

During Spring Break

Happy Thursday!

Your child will be coming home with their “Think Energy” box of goodies.  We hope that you will try these out in your house over Spring Break.  Your child needs to bring back the book with the completed Home Energy Worksheet completed.  After we receive those and turn them in to DTE, we will get a $100 mini grant to use for materials for our classroom!  Thank you in advance for helping your child try out these energy saving devices!!

Please make sure your child is reading and practicing multiplication over the break!  Even if you are going on vacation, reading and doing flashcards are great activities for them to do each day.

I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Spring Break!

DTE Energy is coming to Snow School tomorrow

DTE Energy will be coming to Snow to work with the fourth graders on energy efficiency.  After their meeting, students will be taking home a “Think!Energy Take Action Kit” to help your home become more energy efficient.  The children have a note in their homework folder regarding the presentation.  If you DO NOT want your child to bring home the “Take Action Kit”, please return the completed form on the bottom of the letter.  If you do nothing, your child will be bringing home the kit.

Test Corrections for Unit 7 Math is due tomorrow!

Our cookie sale will take place tomorrow during all three of the lunch periods.  If your child wants to purchase a cookie, they will need to bring 25 cents.

Thursday is gym day!  Please make sure your child has their shoes.

Don’t Forget!

Please make sure your child is doing their test corrections for Unit 7 math.  The corrections are due on Thursday, April 17th!

If you can spare a box of tissues to donate to the classroom, it would be appreciated.

Your child should be practicing their multiplication facts each and every night.  They want to beat their score!!

Our cookie sale will be held on Thursday, April 17th.  If your child would like to purchase a home baked cookie at lunch, the cost is 25 cents.  Some of the children will be helping to sell the cookies in the cafeteria during each of the three lunch periods.

Remind your child!  Read, Read, Read!!

Unit 7 Math Assessment

Your child is coming home today with their Unit 7 Math Assessment.  I always give children the opportunity to see where they made their mistakes and to increase their score.  I would like ALL students to make corrections, but mostly the students who scored 70% or below.  I do ask that they do corrections on a separate sheet of paper attached to their original test.  I would also like the corrections signed by you.  This is a way that I can tell that you have worked with them at home to increase their awareness of the content.  I appreciate your help with this matter.  The test corrections are due no later than April 17th.

Have a great evening!

Happy Sunday!

I hope everyone has enjoyed the beautiful spring weather this weekend!  For this last week before spring break, we will have 11 spelling words to study.  Of course, because we have Friday, April 18th off…our spelling test will be on Thursday.

We will be looking at endings and making them past tense.  The rule will be ending /y/ changing to /ied/.

accompanied, implied, scurried, varied, replied.

The content words are:  cooling, heating, evaporate, molecule, states of matter, and condensation.

Please remember that Monday is Library Day.  All books are due back, otherwise your child will not be able to check out new ones.

This Monday is also Music Day, so your child needs to remember their recorder.

The forecast calls for cooler weather in the next 2 days, so please make sure your child has a small coat of some sort to keep them warm during recess.

Have a great rest of your weekend!!

Science Fair Posters

The science fair posters have arrived!  If your child ordered one, they will be bringing it home today.

Please make sure your child is practicing their multiplication facts each day.  They are taking a daily timed test and they need to practice to beat their score.

Also, have your child read at least 20-30 minutes daily.  We will soon be starting to test their reading skills. I want them to show me what they know!

Enjoy your weekend!
