Busy Week Ahead

This week is going to be a busy one!  Monday will be Extra Recess Day.  We will also have a late start on Wednesday.  If your child eats breakfast at school, it will be served in the cafeteria from 9:00-9:30 am on Wednesday.

Thursday we will be traveling to Ann Arbor to see the stage play “Charlotte’s Web”.  We will be leaving promptly at 9am to arrive in Ann Arbor by 10am.  Please make sure your child gets to school on time!  We will be back in time for lunch at school.

I am taking donations for the picnic basket to be auctioned off during the School Picnic.  The theme is “water toys”.  Please send your donations in at any time.

I still have all slots open for goodies for Ice Cream Day, Krispy Kreme Day, Lollipop Day, and Popsicle Day.  If you are interested in sending something in, please sign up (or have your child sign for you), outside the classroom door.

I will be continuing to administer the reading tests and we will have a writing common assessment this week.  The Unit 8 Assessment for math will be coming home tomorrow.  Please make sure your child does his/her corrections under your guidance, on a separate sheet of paper and return to me by Friday, May 16th.

This week in spelling, we will focus on contractions.  The words are as follows:

would’ve, they’d, he’d, that’ll, you’re, they’re, she’ll, I’ve, we’d and could’ve.

The content words are:

area, symmetry, square unit, degrees.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!!

The weekend is here!

Just a reminder to parents that there is a note in your child’s homework folder regarding the science fair and ice cream social.  The Science Fair walk-through is from 6-7 pm on May 20th.  The Ice Cream Social is 6:30-8:00 pm.  The information in Scoops was incorrect, so I marked it out.

For Monday, the ABC countdown calls for Extra Recess.

Also, don’t forget to sign up for goodies outside my door.  We have not had any volunteers yet.

The donations for the picnic basket can come to me at any time.  The theme is water toys.

Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers and mother surrogates out there!  Enjoy being pampered on Sunday…

Have a great weekend!!

Dime and Dollar Day tomorrow

Friday is Dime and Dollar Day in the ABC countdown.  All monies will be donated to Relay for Life.  Please encourage your child to donate.

Reading/writing/math.  Essential skills to practice everyday.  Please make sure your child is not neglecting these subject areas now that the weather is getting nicer.

Have a great evening!

Camping Day Tomorrow

According to my ABC Countdown chart, tomorrow is camping day.  Your child can bring a flashlight and a sleeping bag tomorrow.

Walk to school day has been changed.  It will take place tomorrow, since today was so rainy.  Encourage your child to walk or ride their bike to school.  They will win a sticker if they do so.

The last Book Bingo of the year will take place on May 13th.  I will be giving away a Free Pass for Book Bingo to a lucky winner in my class!

As always, make sure your child is reading 20-30 minutes per night and also studying their multiplication tables.

Have a great evening!

Tomorrow

Tomorrow is Beach Day.  Your child may bring beach towels, wear sandals and sunglasses tomorrow for the ABC countdown.  I have not as yet had anyone sign up for the goodies next week.  Please consider signing up for one of the choices.

I am also collecting for the picnic basket we are donating to the school picnic.  The theme is water toys, so if you happen to go to the store, pick up something that we can add to our basket.

May 20th:  Science Fair Projects are due.

Tomorrow is walk or ride your bike to school day.  If your child does either tomorrow, they will win a special sticker!

As always, make sure your child is reading 20-30 minutes per day.  Our reading tests have begun!  They should also be practicing their multiplication tables nightly.  Don’t let them forget!!

Have a great rest of your day!

Events of the week

Good Afternoon!

Yesterday, I posted that the ABC countdown began on Wednesday.  I was mistaken, the countdown begins tomorrow! (Tuesday)  We will begin with A and students are allowed to bring one small stuffed animal to class.  Your child will be bringing the schedule home today.  You’ll notice that on May 16, there will be ice cream day.  I am looking for donations for these very special days.  There is a donation list posted outside my classroom.  The additional days are:  May 20th-Krispy Kreme Day, May 21st-Lollipop Day, and May 29th-Popsicle Day.  If you would like to donate, please have your child sign you up for one of those days.  (we have 19 students in the class)

Remember that tomorrow is Spring Picture Day.  You do not need to send money, but you might want your child dressed for the pictures!

Also, we will have a Unit 8 Math Assessment tomorrow.  Make sure you help your child review by looking at past homework assignments and helping them practice.

Have a great evening!

This week in review

Happy Weekend!  This week we will be starting the ABC countdown.  The countdown will officially begin on Wednesday, May 7.  Look for the official countdown list in your child’s homework folder tomorrow.  I will also send you daily reminders in my blog to help you keep track of what is coming next.

This week in spelling, we will be focusing on changing words ending in /y/ to /iest/.  The words are as follows:

loveliest, crunchiest, prettiest, neediest, spunkiest.

The content words are:

common good, citizenship, justice, rule, citizen.

Hopefully, the science fair projects are nearing completion.  Those will be due May 20th.  Make sure your child is practicing their multiplication tables daily.  We will be having a Unit 8 math test on Tuesday, then in Unit 9 we will begin converting fractions to decimals and figuring out percentages, so their multiplication facts will really be needed!

I will also begin testing your child this week in reading.  Make sure your child reads at least 20-30 minutes each night.

Have a great rest of your weekend and enjoy the beautiful weather!!

Happy Friday!

I hope everyone is looking forward to a great weekend!  Hopefully we will see some sun!

We are finally in May!  The basket that we are collecting for the School Picnic has a water toy theme.  If you would like to contribute to our picnic basket to be auctioned off on the day of the picnic, please send in your donation as soon as possible.  The picnic is in May this year!

Don’t forget!  The Science Fair Project is due May 20th.  Hopefully, your child has been working on it these past few weeks.  The end of May will be here before you know it.

Have a great weekend!

Tonight 5-6pm

Ms. Visea will be at Snow this evening from 5-6 pm to answer any questions that you may have about the Science Fair Project.  The Projects are due May 29th.  Just a reminder:  The project is mandatory and will be scored for a grade.  It is important that every student in the upper elementary turn one in.  Please come to the meeting if you have any concerns…
