NWEA Assessment Scores

Parents will get their student’s scores from the recent NWEA MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) at Parent/Teacher conference.  The testing results are reported in RITs (Rauch Unit) on the report and in grade equivalent scores on the report card.  A RIT score is an estimation of a student’s instructional level and also measures student progress or growth in school.  We expect RIT scores to increase over time.  Parents and guardians should become comfortable with the understanding that individuals will grow at different rates.  Our goal is for teachers to use the data to differentiate and adjust instruction so that all students grow at levels appropriate for each individual.  If you have questions, please contact me or Dr. Groover.

Dr. Groover will be holding the annual Title I Parent Meeting each night of conferences and will go into more detail about interpreting the NWEA reports, along with how to help your child succeed in school.  The sessions will be held as follows:

Thursday, Nov. 13th   3:45-4:15

Wednesday, Nov. 19th  4:30-5:00

Thursday, Nov. 20th  5:30-6:00

Reminder:  Library and Gym today!

Happy Sunday!

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.  Parent-Teacher Conferences begin this week.  Please return your signed conference slip on Monday, so I can find a slot for you if the appointment doesn’t fit your schedule.  Parents will receive report cards during  conference time.

Picture retakes will be this Friday, November 14th.  If your child needs their picture retaken, please return the old packet on Friday and they will have their picture retaken.  Also, if your child was absent on picture day, they may have their picture taken at that time.  A new picture envelope is available in the office if you need one.

Please make sure your child has signed up for Xtra Math.  They need to be practicing their facts each and every day, and this is a fun way to have them challenge themselves!
