Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

However you may celebrate, we’d like to wish you and your families a wonderful time of being together.  Thank you so much for the generous gifts that came in this morning.   We were so touched by your thoughtfulness.  As a mom of a child in grade school, I now understand and appreciate the time and thought that went into sending gifts this morning.  Thank you for thinking of us.  See you in 2016!

Sad News

Many of you have heard by now, that our beloved teacher, Debbie Haddix, passed away Monday evening.   Many of our students had Mrs. Haddix in preschool, and left a lasting impression on their lives.  A letter is going home to families today to the students who may have had Mrs. Haddix in the past.    We will not be making an announcement in the classroom, as we would like to let our families handle it in the way they feel is best for their children.  We are however, available to talk with students, share memories, etc. for any student who wishes to do so.  It was an honor to be able to work with her for the past 18 years, and an even bigger honor to call her my friend.  I will miss her more than words can say.

Funeral Arrangements are as follows:

Visitation – Martenson Funeral Home – Allen Park

Thursday 1-9 p.m.

Funeral – St. Frances Cabrini – Allen Park

Friday:

In State 9:30 a.m.

Funeral 10:00 a.m.

Swimming Correction

The date for Swimming at Hype (Wayne location) is December 1st, not December 4th as previously posted.  Since that is TOMORROW, we will be sending home paper notes as well.  This is an all day event, (9:30-2:30).  Students who do not swim will be able to participate in other activities at the center.  If you can, please text the classroom phone if your son/daughter will NOT be swimming, so that we can plan ahead.

Students will need the following for tomorrow:

  • Bagged lunch – nothing that needs to be refrigerated or heated
  • Bathing suit – lined
  • Towel
  • Bag
  • Comb or brush
  • Deodorant
  • Shower or water shoes for locker rooms – optional
  • Please wear gym clothes/tennis shoes for easy changing and possible gym activities

Also, because of the change in schedule, we will reschedule the group that was supposed to go to Kerby’s Koney Island to another time, so that everyone gets a turn.

Thank you, and sorry for any inconvenience.

Saturday News

We hope everyone is having a good weekend!  We were so busy getting the sheet orders together, the “Friday News” didn’t get out.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone at SkyZone this afternoon!  The weather doesn’t seem too bad right now, but please be safe.

Tomorrow is Community Day at Hype.  Our class will be having a bake sale fundraiser.  Stop in to say hello and have some fun!

Next week is a short week.  Monday and Tuesday only. We hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving with family and friends!

Target and Fairlane Mall

The next four Target trips (Tuesday) will be changed to Kerby’s Coney Island.  Menu’s will be sent home so students can plan to bring the appropriate amount of money.

The Fairlane Mall CBI trips (Thursday) are being postponed until after the holidays.

Colored Pencils

Many of you may have heard about the latest “adult coloring” phase.   Coloring can help combat stress and anxiety, as well as provide an enjoyable leisure activity.  We have started to include this activity in our classroom about once a week.  When we notice the students are especially hyped up, or unable to concentrate, we block out 30 minutes for this activity, turn on classical music, and silence the room.  It’s a very enjoyable way for students to relax, and regain composure.  That being said, students need colored pencils to keep in their backpack.  Please send in box of colored pencils with your son or daughter by Monday, November 23rd.  Thank you!
