Hello!
Information is coming home today about our Weekend Activity scheduled for Saturday, February 4th. We will be going to see “Monster Trucks” at Southland Cinemark Theaters. Please RSVP by tomorrow, so we can plan accordingly. (Sorry we could’t get details to you sooner, but the theaters do not release their movie times until later in the week). Students will be on their own again in March.
Electronics – students have always been welcome to bring phones/ipads/ipods, etc. to class as long as they are using them at the appropriate times. They are doing a great job with that – however, we’ve had an issue with charging phones during class time. We haven been tripping over the cords, phones are crashing to the floor, students are preoccupied with where their device is, etc. We have decided that while electronics are still permitted, charging them during school hours is not. Students should come to school with their electronics fully charged to last them throughout the day. If they aren’t staying charged throughout the day, they are using them too much!
Valentines Day Update – Recently, we learned that the students are receiving nothing but praises from Burlington Coat Factory, The Henry and Planet Fitness. We are so proud of them! To celebrate this great news, we will be providing lunch on Valentines Day! Details will follow at a later date.
Also noteworthy, we had a record number of students qualify for the Healthy Lunch and Walking Club prize drawings in January. Those that qualified for the Healthy Lunch Program with 52 points or higher were: Sabrina, Fowzi, Nejwa, Tori, Sarah, Mo, Hiba, Susie, Ahlam, and Ali S. (Tori was the winner) Those that qualified for the Walking Club Prize with 136 laps or more were: Sarah, Ahlam, Malak, Sabrina, Susie, Hiba, Hadi, Ali J., and Tori (Ahlam was the winner!) Congratulations, and keep up the great work! We are so proud of you all!!! We are currently putting together some ideas and samples of the types of things students are bringing for lunch to give ideas to those of you who need them! Stay tuned!
Finally, Ms. Sue, one of our classroom parapro’s, has taken a position at another building and will not be returning to our class. We anticipate welcoming a new parprofessional in the near future.
