June 16, 2022

As we close out the 2021-2022 school year, Ms. Cote and I would like to thank you for all of your support, and for supporting your student throughout the year. The year definitely brought challenges we’ve never had to face before, but we came out stronger than when we started! The students have grown and matured, they’ve learned new skills, and we have become a family. We are so proud of all of the students. Special congratulations and wishes go out to Tarek and Mouhamed as they exit our program and head off into the real world. We will miss you!

Thank you to everyone who donated food and/or money to our picnic! We had a blast and couldn’t have done it without your support! It means so much to the students! If you haven’t already seen the pictures – head on over to Dearborn Transition Program on Facebook and you will find them there. You will also see pictures from our Zumba party there, which was also a blast! Don’t forget you can check out Ms. Susan’s class every Wednesday (4p.m.) at Vibe Fit Studio in Allen Park.

Tomorrow will be a half day with dismissal at 11:30. Ms. Cote and I will be closing up the room in the afternoon and we will be locking up the school phone for the summer. Due to the Diversity Festival that will be held at Hype (Aug 25-28th) we may not be back into the room until the first day of school – which is August 29th. If you have questions prior to August 29th, please call Howe School – 313-827-7000. They can help answer questions or they can get a message to us and we will call you back. Please remember, we will not know your son/daughters bus schedule, so please call transportation for those types of questions 313-827-3300

Please see the below information for supplies, calendar, etc. We hope everyone has a great summer – it has been a privilege working with your students. We truly love what we do! See you in the fall!

Zumba Fun and Prom

Be sure to check out our Facebook page – “Dearborn Transition Program” to see all the great pictures of our zumba party. The students had the time of their lives and if the smiles don’t speak for themselves, I heard comments all day like “I’m so glad I did this”, “This is so much fun”, and “I can’t wait until next year!” It makes me so happy to see the joy it brings to them. Students can attend Ms. Susan’s class in her studio this summer starting next week. Flyers will be sent home tomorrow!.

If you’re going to prom tonight – have a great time! We are so excited for you and hope you will bring in lots of pictures so we can see you all dressed up! We hope you have the best time!

Hello! The year is quickly winding down. Thank you for your responses for the class picnic! It is so appreciated! If you would still like to donate, please send the form back by May 31st.

PROM: I believe there is still time to sign up for the prom. All information was sent home a few weeks ago, but they have extended the RSVP date so that more people can attend. I would not hesitate, as this may close soon. If there are any questions, please contact Eman Naura at naurae@dearbornschools.org

PLANNERS: You will be receiving a note about planners for the 2022-2023 school year. We are going to place a bulk order with a planner company so that every student has the correct planner and it will be much less expensive than purchasing one from the store. Please send in $5 to cover the cost of the planner by May 31st, so that we can order them and have them ready for the fall.

ZUMBA! Ms. Susan will be back to offer a Zumba class to our students in June! (Details will follow soon.) Additionally, she has created a “Fitness for All” program at her studio in Allen Park. The class will consist of 30 minutes of beginner dance fitness and 30 minutes of beginner slow flow yoga with a licensed yoga teacher and special educator. Friends, family members and care-givers are welcome! I have known Ms. Susan for almost 10 years and I can’t speak highly enough about her! She is amazing and I have no doubt this program will be amazing as well. Check it out! The kick off is May 25, in studio or virtual, and classes will be every Wednesday beginning June 15 after that. If you would like further information, please call the studio at 734-658-6232 and tell her you’re in Mrs. Camp’s class! (Flyers will be coming home today as well)

MEDICATIONS: If your student requires life-saving medications (asthma, seizures, epi-pens, etc.) they should have those in their backpack or locked in a drawer here in the classroom. If your son/daughter has a medical emergency and they are without their medication we will have to call 911.
